A Micronesian family (looks more like 10 families) resides in our neighborhood. Approx 20 people reside in a modest size 3-bedroom SINGLE home. Since they moved in 6 months ago, the neighborhood went to crap – literally. They have a two car garage, like everyone else. But they have up to 10 cars (that’s right 10 cars!!!) park on the street. How in the world can a 3 bedroom house need 10 cars?!?! Their cars park right in front of my house and I live 3 houses away! And we’re talking a normal thing here – not some party they’re having. And speaking of parties, I think that’s all they do. Almost every other night, they have people hanging around in their front yard sucking up beers and soda talking story – often until 2 a.m. on a WEEKDAY. And during the day, the house is still full of people. J-O-B?? Nope, not in their vocabulary. I swear that out of the 10+ adults in that home, 2 or 3 work. The rest stay home all day and do NOTHING. Sit around and do NOTHING. The owner of the house could care less because he’s the quintessential slumlord and he’s content knowing that his rent checks will come in – BECAUSE THEY ARE GUARANTEED BY THE GOVT.
And you think that Micronesian family is an anomaly? Hardly. I have had other friends say the same thing – they reproduce like rabbits yet have NO means to pay for the healthcare, education and proper upbringing of their children. They come to Hawaii knowing that they can leach off our generous system – more kids?? no problem – MORE VOUCHERS. Free food, shelter, healthcare, all while our local families are struggling.
I apologize for stereotyping but with these grim statistics - 20% of our homeless shelters are full of these people – while they only represent 1% of the island’s population. HOW CAN I NOT STEREOTYPE??? Keep these leaches off our island. We have more than enough locals struggling to get by. We don’t need any more people migrating here and sucking our already lacking system bone dry.
And why does our STATE system need to subsidize these people’s healthcare, housing and food expense? Last checked it was the FEDERAL govt that decided to test nukes, NOT HAWAII. Have the US govt build a hospital in Micronesia to help the people they’ve sickened. Why is it OUR burden???

I live in Wahiawa too, unfortunately I live in a bad neighborhood ... Ohai Street. There is so many problems with the Micronesians on this street just last night a Micronesian neighbor pulled a knife on several people. This time one of them got mad and came to our building with a bat and broke all of there windows in the living room & kitchen. It was so scary for me and my little boy who live here alone. This is not the first time that the Micronesians who live here pulled knives on someone .. it happened at least 3 other times. The only thing different this time was someone got mad ... and vented withn a BAT!! & this time the HPD did their job ... "ARREST THE MICRONESIAN RESPONSIBLE" Shit I hate living in the ghetto's but not many people want to rent to a single Mom on section 8. They would rather rent to knife pulling Micronesians. Makes no sense to me!!

You get yourself a bat.If anyone come by your baby boy and you uses it.Self defence.Or you can get a gun and put it up high some little ones can't get at any time. And if they break your window.Tell them have something to protect you and family. To go away.

I have a rental and I refuse to rent to Micronesian families because of the fact they do not follow rules. I have learned from my own experiences with them. They always have extended family just lurking around the corner waiting to move in with them. I rented to a family of four and within weeks they have 7 more people living there and none of the 7 had a job. They had parties all days of the week to wee hours of the morning. When the water bill came to me (I pay that expense) I almost shit my pants. I finally had to go to court to get them out ... in the end I ended up losing at least $9,000 in back rent, legal fees and damages. I will never rent to another Micronesian family again.

It is too bad that you have to live on Ohai St. it is already a bad place to be but, the Micro's turn the place to crap. I feel sorry for you and if I didn't have a great military family I would surely rent it to a single Mom on section 8.

Just give it time you will find a understanding home owner to rent to you and your son. You should just be honest and tell them exactly why you want to move!!

I felt so sorry when i read your post.

I am a landlord and I too would never rent to a Micronesian family. The ACLU can kiss my a$$. They can't tell me who to rent to. I don't want 15 people living in my house. Is the ACLU going to force me? F them. I have rights as a citizen and my right to NOT rent to a Micronesian should be granted. Renting to Micros is like renting to a family of pitbulls. They will destroy everything.
Do you have a available unit for a single mom on section 8 ... I feel for this woman who lives on Ohai st w/ violent micronesians as neighbors.

"fustrated", if you don't mind divulging... what do you pay in rent? I have friends that rent to section 8 people. As long as your child is tame and you have a job, you shouldn't have a problem renting a place.
My unit I currently live in rents for $1,050 a month. My son is almost 10 years old and he is tame and doesn't bite. I have lived in my current location for almost 9 year ... yes 9 years on Ohai Street. I have a job ... work at a small Credit Union for the past 2 1/2 years. I am also a part-time college student trying to finish up her degree. I have no criminal background. I pay my bill but my credit score in not up in the numbers that I would like. I have credit cards and a personal loan which I am using to build up my score. I do not have loud parties and I do not drink. I am in my early 40's and lead a very uneventful life. Let me know if there is anything avail.

To the one's complaining and that have a problem with the micronesians: are you doing anything about it rather than just complaining in topix? if you want to get rid of them DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT rather than just sit in front of your computer and complain!
