Why is Honey Grove ISD not supporting Youth Football program like it has in the past? Currently it will not let the teams use the football field on Saturdays to play games. They say it is because they will tear up the field. It was not a problem in the past. When playing on a wet field the referee will move the ball around to keep from playing in the same spot. This reduces any damage that might occur. It is not like it is going to keep the Jr High or High school teams from winning a game. Currently our good friends from other towns are letting HG use their fields. Wow other town's schools are supporting our team more than HG is. This is very disappointing. The Youth Football team relies on the money generated from home games to support its team. In the past the Youth Football team has given scholarships and bought equipment for HG ISD football team. The vision should be build from the bottom and success will come at the top. I am not sure we have a vision in HG sports. What do you think?

Maybe, the reason is what you were told. They don't want the field to be damaged. Have you ever thought that we are "burning the kids out" before they get to Jr. High and High School? Just my opinion. I've always wondered if some of the things we do for kids are really for them or if they are for the parents. Just a thought and just my two cents worth.

Yes we could be burning them out. I personally think that all school sports are for the parents no matter what age. But we start kids in school young too. Could we be burning them out in academics? This is getting off topic.

You may onto something. I think we are pushing kids too soon to read in school. All academics have been pushed back a year or two in school since I was in school many years ago. Whatever happened to "letting kids be kids"?

JEF CLARK is supposively the reason the kids cannot use the fields. From what I've heard he is going to stop the Dixie Leagues softball/baseball from having home games as well! Which means all Honey Grove residents with children playing anything but basketball will now have to travel for EVERY game! Nice job JEFF! With the economy the way it is I believe its unfair to force the residents to have to travel to every game!

My understanding from the school board is Dixie League will get to use the fields. I hope so. The Dixie League has always worked with the school to insure they are off the fields when the high school needs them. Those interested in Honey Grove sports need to keep in communication with the school board. I think the school board will do the right thing if they understand what the community wants.

I'm just hoping all this mess is not true, my kids love to play ball and I hope they do get to use the fields, but regardless of what anyone might say they will still play whether or not we have to travel.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if HG would hire a fine arts teacher at the elementary to teach music and art? Other schools have this. I wish HG did too. Do you think the school board would consider this?

All my kids played sports. It was their choice. I love sports but never told my kids to play. They did not play all sports every year. But when they did play it was their decison. That is the way it should be. But I know a lot of parents that pushed thier kids to play. Even when they did not want to.

Probably the same reason they don't even support the school program! This once proud and winning program has become a joke! There's no expectation or accountablity for the head coach from the administration or school board! It is deteriorating every year and no one seems concerned about it! It's like all well let's just wait for basketball season.!(and don't even get me started on that!) Can we please stop this retirement oasis for a couple of these old coaches and get a person in here that can inspire this otherwise young coaching staff and the students! Their all so beat down and discouraged from a total lack of leadership and direction! From the coaches to the players. There is no respect in the locker room or the field it is apparent! It's past time to stop the good old home town boy approach! Bring in a leader, a role model, motivatior or more commonly known as a Head Coach!

Thank you. I could not have said it better. The kids deserve a true leader. The kids have talent.

Let me clairify one thing. The head coach Is a great person and one of the nicest people you will ever meet he's just not a head coach anymore. These kids need someone to light a fire under them and he's just not that type!

I agree. He is a great guy. He has also taken care of some discipline problems. They need help calling plays and getting the plays in on time. On the average the plays are taking to long to be called and the kids don't have time to set up and run the offense. They have to rush to get to the line of scrimmage.

Let's see this started on the PeeWee and yes I am a PeeWee parent and it broke my heart our school wouldn't let our kids use the facilities! They should be for all the school age kids. I disagree with the decision being Jeff Clark's and after many parents have addressed their concern - WE ARE PLAYING AT WARRIOR STADIUM! I feel he is the greatest person for the job and we should all support the job he is doing for our KIDS!

I am not sure why the Pee wee teams were not allowed to use the field, but as a asst. coach of the Pee wee team we were given the reason of the field being to wet and that to much play on it would damage it for the high School games. While not happy about having to move the games for travel reasons and losing money that the teams could have earned for more equipment we made the best of the situation. Most of the boys on the teams were sad that some of the family members could not travel to see the games and that is where it wa hard for me as a coach to explain to a young child why one team could use it (high school) and they could not. In a perfect world maybe by next year we will have a solution on how to do this better. for the Parents and people of honey grove who support the Pee wee football team and Dixie Baseball, I thank you and welcome any ideas on how we can improve it.

I in no way represent any league or other coaches but rather just my own opinion
thank you

Hang in there Robert. I fought that battle for 9 years with Pee Wee football. Sometimes the school administration needs to be reminded who is paying for all the facilities. It all begins in the Pee Wee leagues.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Scorpio

Something that you've always taken for granted or believed implicitly could have a big question mark hanging over it during the next few weeks. The more entrenched your views are about this, the more difficult it will be to accept that perhaps it's time for a change of opinion or, at the very least, a revaluation of what you think. Mercury turns retro in your house of communications, so do your best to be open-minded now.
