Fairfax man, 89, beaten in street; suspect 'calmly' walks off

this is soo messed up...hes 89. wth!!

Chances are that the "suspect" was bumping him up for meth.money......

People young, or old, need to watch their mouths. Ever once and awhile

What an A.H. Beats up an 89 year old senior because "his hands were raised"? What about getting in your car and just going on your way? You probably beat up women and puppies, too.

Even if the guy popped off verbally smacking him again when he's down on the ground is lame and hopefully will be dealt with by some of his "new friends" in the pokey.

This happened at 9:30am in broad daylight and NO ONE tried to help or tried to stop the beating? What's wrong with people? That place is packed with people in the morning. Nice job Fairfax citizens who may have been nearby and witnessed this but did nothing to stop it.

The police need to clean up the armpit of Fairfax. Those parkade rats are disguisting and "on stage" for all passersby to see as they drive into town for dinner, a movie or music. Those punks should not be tolerated by the towns folk. Even if he is from out of town, I'm sure when he saw the rats, he felt right at home.

The Fairfax Town Council and police chief like it that way.

This is outrageous, when is Fairfax PD going to do something about the hoodlums that hang out all day at the covered bus stop at the parkade? It's like an open-air flop house. I feel sorry for people who have to use it as a bus stop - scary!

Hope the elderly gentleman is OK.

i can see it now, the old guy says something like," get a job, take a shower you hippy!" or something and the meth head beats him down. sad.

I dont think there would have been time to intervene though, these things happen fast, and you need the right person to confront a scary looking 20 something drifter guy. better to get a description and follow him or something.

Which of the following statments will we see in the paper when Rankin defends this loser:

-He's misunderstood and was having flashblacks when his grandfather used to take a belt to his backside

-It was self-defense as the old man is a black belt.

-This is out of character for the young man and he is truly a good person.

-It's the wrong guy and the local cops screwed the case up.

Yeah for sure. Why can't they do anything about this?? At night it looks so pretty, until you look at the parkade and see all these low lifes sitting on the steps of a parking lot drinking beer and smoking weed!:(

What are you talking about "armpit" all of Fairfax has been the rectum of Marin for a long time and the whole city needs cleaning up.

Something has to be done about these belligerent senior citizens that go around town trying to beat up young, disadvantaged, meth-addicted, pot-smoking, citizens. Why just the other day, I was walking by the tennis courts at Peri Park and saw an old man shouting abuse at some nice kids who were only exercising their rights to use drugs in public and throw beer cans onto the bocce ball court. I know, the bocce ball court is a senior-dominated area, but the kids who have thoughtfully transformed it into a skateboard park are disadvantaged. I think they have teachers at Drake high who are trying to abuse them by actually giving them an education. Even worse, they have prohibited students from taking cell phone calls while in class. This is just facisim masquerading as education.
What are we coming to?
