1 Very well written response to the comments made about Dr. DeYoung. It IS about time that we have someone who is willing and able to actually listen to the concerns of the constituents and then do something about it! Dr. DeYoung has my support! 1 Actually I'm not mad. I'm disappointed that you would come out and say you couldn't find any good points about Lori or that she doesn't stand a chance. If you couldn't find any good points about her, then you must not have done any research. Additionally, she absolutely stands a chance against Bill. There are many people in the 104th District who desire a change and want someone who will listen to their concerns and actively seek solutions. Lori is hardworking, honest, dedicated, caring, and concerned. Not only will I vote for my friend, but I will vote for a candidate I truly believe in. It matters not to me whether that candidate be Democrat or Republican. The best person for the job gets my vote and the best person for the 104th District is Lori DeYoung. I don't need to throw a temper tantrum to express my viewpoint. You asked the question of what Lori had done. I answered your question. End of discussion. Period. |

1 Thursday, August 9, 2007 Lawmaker on the Illinois Budget: "I don't know what the hell's in it" Categories: The Pork-Barrel Files For months now, the Illinois General Assembly and Governor Rod Blagojevich have been feuding over the state’s budget. Today, more than a month after the deadline to approve the budget passed, the House of Representatives finally voted for a bill. The massive 1,395 page budget raises state spending by more than $2 billion in a time when Illinois is suffering a dire financial situation. According to the Chicago Tribune, included in this $2 billion jump in spending is a number of “pork barrel projects around legislative districts in time to make lawmakers’ re-election brochures.” So just how much pork barrel spending was there? Who knows? According to Representative Bill Black of Danville,“I don’t know what the hell’s in it.” Why doesn’t he (or pretty much any other legislator) know? Because they were handed a copy of the bill just this morning! Yet somehow, ninety representatives felt comfortable enough with a budget they almost assuredly hadn’t read to vote in favor of it! Only nine had the courage to vote no. Though the House passed the budget, its implementation is far from assured. The Senate is expected to pass it, but Governor Blagojevich has indicated he might veto. But don’t give Blagojevich any plaudits for threatening veto. His objections? Amazingly, he thinks there’s not enough spending! Something is truly rotten in the state of Illinois. |
