Merging the cities would be a disaster. Two bad governing bodies into one big bad township? Give me a break. Hemet should incorporate the eastern portion of the valley south of Florida- they can't even keep the libary open or take care of the Ramona Bowl.

John, get your facts straight. The city of Hemet doesn't run or own the Ramona Bowl, its in the county. Never had it and probably doesn't want it. Look for solutions rather than things to bash.

John,
Find a day that the LIBRARAY is open and pick up a dictionary. |

1 I have long advocated a one-community stance, but having worked for both cities, I realize that such a task is monumental and ultimately up to the citizens of both communities. The manner in which both cities conduct business is very different. In fact, even addresses are done differently (Hemet uses the even on the north and east side of the street as opposed to the even addresses on the south and west sides of the street). Really, look at them when you get a chance. In addition, we would have to form a representative form of city council. In light of the current SJ scandal, that might be a long time coming. Regardless, the merging of the two would only benefit all involved. I'm just of the opinion that it is going to be a very difficult task! |

I agree. Why merge both? That would give politicians more money to line their pockets; while the citizens lack police, fire and a watchdog! "who let the dogs out in the first place?" |

Larry,(Hemet state of mind)
Hemet will never swallow san jacinto. You and your action league cronies should stick to the dino's over at the western center. It kinda suits you (i'm calling you old). |

mad as hell, your assumptions as to my identity are off a bit. But, none the less...I have always thought it beneficial to merge the cities into one bigger city. However, as I stated above, the merger would be very difficult. There are many reasons why a merger would be beneficial. My stance is that a community with a population of 100,000 people or more qualifies for more federal monise through various grants. Also, we could establish a transportation corridor into and out of the valley that makes sense.
On the other hand, many hurdles stand in the way of making it a success. Please don't misunderstand, it is not my intent to shove this merger down anyone's throat. My intent was to outline the positive aspects of a merger tempered by the reality. By the way, I think that bigger is not always better and part of me says keep things the way they are. We have to find a way in which to make this valley prosperous again and a real transportation corridor and light industry might do us some good. |

ok HSoM - I'll retract my previous rage based response. I'd also listen to your ideas at length some time. I should be smart and listen to everyone and not engage in the tunnel vision that got the valley into the current mess it's in.
