Some things never change. When I was in high school almost 20 years ago, drunk driving was always a hot topic. They'd bring in a crashed car for us to see, have us watch the usual films, have the usual SADD chapters. You'd think it would've decreased by now.

If you drink more than on 4 oz. alcoholic drink in 24 hours, be safe, call a cab or catch a bus. I do not want you driving into me and killing me or worse, making me of a handicapped person.

Drinking and driving and not driving safe is not an exact science. There are many people who could drink heavy and drive and never get into an accident or do anything wrong. Then there are people who drink a few and become the worse drivers on the road. We condemn everyone at a certain alcohol level. And on top of that have no tolerance. You can very much see who is messed up driving on the road. The problem is, police are not on the road. Their to busy setting people up to become criminals. We have just about reached the limits of what you are going to get on drinking and driving violations in terms of safety. Yet there are millions of people who have had their lives changed drastically over the last few decades by offenses made legal through MADD and others who were driving safely. I do not want any member of my family or others I know to ever get injured, disabled or killed by a drunk driver. But we passed common sense long ago. This nation is heading towards a more restrictive government. Whether communism/ fascism/or combo people will end up drinking more and doing more drugs to ease the pain of reality. When the state becomes god, the results are always the same.

Mosco,
In most cases (unless an accident has occured), the driver is put through field sobriety exercises to determine whether they might be impaired. The blood alcohol test is usually administered after failing these FSEs. Therefore, in most cases, the driver has already demonstrated an impairment, without even looking at their blood alcohol level. Furthermore, I do not believe innocent or capable people are wrongly charged because you had to have given the officer a reason to pull you over in the first place. Safe drivers are not pulled over at random to submit to a BAL test. |
