I never needed any help with getting off drugs or alcohol or any thing like that.
So do I get a slap on the back?
OK, SO WHY SHOULD PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO KIDS PAY TAXES TO SUPPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLS? DO WE LEAVE THE COST TO PARENTS ONLY? ADDICTION IS A DISEASE AND AS SUCH IT SHOULD BE HANDLED LIKE ANY OTHER DISEASES. I PAY TO SUPPORT THE BROWARD HEALTH ORGANIZATION, YET I HAVE NEVER USED THEIR SERVICES. SHOULD I STOP PAYING ALSO? I HAVE PAID FOR OVER 25 YEARS TO PROVIDE PUBLIC MEDICAL CARE. PLEASE, YOU ALL NEED TO THINK BEFORE YOU BARK.]

The biggest problem in FL is prescription drugs. These companies produce more more pills than those who have a real need for them could use. Let them take their massive profits and contribute to programs. Our political leaders have allowed Broward to become a pill mill for the country. The commissioners haven't done anything to resolve the problem that I know of. They should take a pay cut and donate part of their salary to support programs like BARC. IF there are cuts, let them come from the salaries of the political leaders who allowed this mess.

All of the people who posted comments against treatment and BARC in particular, YOU IGNORANCE IS SHOWING! These junkies, low-life, and weak willed people did not choose this way of life. Addiction is a disease insidious in nature that tells the addicted person he/she doesn't have a disease! Do you think these people woke up one day and said,"I'll become an addict today?" Mental midgets if you want to be mad at someone, be mad at your government! The United States is the by far the largest producer of acetone, a chemical used to process cocoa leaves, in the world! It has no other practical application!! The United States kept an embargo on products coming from Cuba for over 50 years but it can't keep cocaine or heroin from coming in??!! The truth is that these so called illicit drugs fund a lot of "black ops" that Congress won't approve funding for. These drugs also keep our biggest businesses running. Namely the prisons, jails and the courts! The reality is that money has been made and always will be made from the misery of others. Don't be mad at the end result of the plan, be mad at those who initiated it! WAKE THE HECK UP!!!

Id rather see our tax dollars go to help people like addicts, who by the way didn't choose to be an addict, get educated. They have the disease of addiction just like cancer. Sometimes it goes into remission and sometimes it comes back. (relapse). Would you rather have your tax dollars go to prisons and jails only to have these addicts come out without the tools to stay sober and start the cycle all over again. Barc is a blessing for people who cant afford to get help and seriously want it. I wish there were more programs like Barc around and you would see the crime rate drop 50%.

Recently had a dear friend detox in BARC. They said it was the worst experience of their life! They lost his personal belongs at intake and he had no underwear of his own the entire detox period. He said he felt like he was in jail and treated like an animal. He was only given 10 minutes meal time and he food was taken away and thrown in the trash. On one occasion was informed by the nurse that there was no record of the meds given on previous shift and was given the full strength instead. He had a certain religion forced on him in meetings and endured anger because he had a different belief! He was not aloted the 15 minutes of outside time daily as promised. He witnessed a hostile staff member constantly verbally abusing patients and one patient was made to leave because they defended themselves! Can we say ILLEGAL!

First of all, BARC is a revolving door for the homeless and drug addicts that have no intention of becoming substance free! When a decent citizen reaches out for help they get treated as a criminal and have little resources left due to this revolving door. BARC is no more than a ghetto hotel at the expense of tax payers! If someone down on their luck makes the mistake of going to BARC they are welcomed with a strip search, given no counseling as promised and treated like an animal, once again due to this revolving door for all these addicts and homeless that are enabled time after time to continue their addiction as the revolving door is always open to them! Its a ghetto hell hole!

I glad that you have overcome your addiction and you are helping others, can you please advise if you re-imbursed the tax payers for your treatment at this center?
I am happy to hear that someone has positive results. So many people love to dismiss what they don't understand
