Maybe you should have been a better parent and taught your daughters morals. You know the old say "monkey see monkey do"

There are many cases where the parent(s) or lack of are the problem but not all the time. I have seen some parents try everything to keep their kids from doing drugs and have been unsuccessful.

This event deserves more than this short blurb in the paper! The Starting Place has been considered the "Standard" in which other Treatment Facilities Model their programs after. Having this information come to light only whets the community's hunger for good, solid information on where/how to find and evaluate a substance abuse shelter for our loved ones; especially our chldren who depend on us!

The "monkeys" were impregnated by criminal, pedophile "apes" within the DCF system. Blaming the parent is a cop out. Yes there are bad kids and bad parents, but there's no excusing immoral, illegal behavior by the COUNSELORS who are entrusted with these children.

thank you. it was a home away from home in many ways for both of us.I wonder about the follow up group therapy for the parents. It was very helpful. anything I can do to help. I believe in the cause and the responsibility we have to save our kids.

Criminal investigation by the Hollywood PD is not ready and the news are wrong, there are no counselors involved. I'm pretty sure you work for DCF...And it is the first time in 40 years that something like that happened. The Starting Place DO NOT DESERVE THAT.

The Starting Place has helped tons of people in need since 1970 and helped a good friend of mine and also my neighbor's son to change his life around...I feel really sorry for the whole state of Florida that have no place to go in case of help.
It was 2 or 3 employees that made a big mistake....but how many employees that have made HUGE_BIG great things and helped tons of teens? Are they now all fired? how about their families? How about ours families? Who is going to help our kids now? I feel sorry for our community...sorry for all the employees that now have no jobs....my heart is with all of them...THANK YOU all for the good job all these years

The Hollywood Police Department is not saying anything at this time so people do not know what their investigation is about. As for the media some TV reporters are more reliable than others from my experience. I don't think anyone should make judgements at this time unless all the true facts are known.

Jill, I empathize with you greatly. It is a shame what has happened. And where are our children to go? There are no residential facilities in Broward County for adolescent females. I know it was less than a handful of culprits, but it still happened. Unfortunately, the Supervisor/Director of Day Treatment and Residential could not handle his job. I have heard terrible things about him in the community. If one good thing comes out of this, its that he is no longer in charge of the safety (or lack there of) of many teenagers in need.

fork the starting place i am glad it is shut down that place is full of sex offendors

its very sad that yhey decided to shut down the starting place because i was a resident there and i graduated....the honest way.my life was very rough with my parents being addicts and me being addicted to crack and wat ever alse i could get my hands on,but now i have to say that the starting place REALY helped me!it was the biggest and HARDEST struggle ive ever been through to get off crack but i did it with their help and GODS help.THANK TOU STARTING PLACE!!
