AnotherGaltToo wrote: The only RK here is "Crash" himself AnotherGaltToo, have you ever BEEN in an aircraft accident? Have you EVER seen an aircraft accident first hand? I mean stand there 10 feet away and see what normally happens? I didn't think so. What "crash" managed to do with an aircraft that had no engine, in an urban area, was nothing short of a miracle. It was, what any knowledgeable pilot would call, a "Great Landing!". And the fact you don't get it, shows not only your considerable ignorance, it shows your stupidity. I suggest you lay off the "crash" moniker until you have been in one while behind the yoke, then you can criticize. In the two I have been in, I was behind the stick of one and a co-pilot of the other. Both were in helicopters in a combat zone and there is no such thing as a low risk forced landing. My guess is, if you were ever in that situation, you would be in a fetal position crying for your mommy.

As long as Galt lays off the danger to my family of non-citizenship, i'll lay off the faulty aircraft danger.
In any case, making fun of what appears to be a good effort makes no sense.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you never made a comment about the "faulty aircraft danger" Bonds. Or was that you doing it all along under all the various user names? Those fake user names all seem to be coming from the same location so I guess that is plausible. Why do that? In any case, I didn't voluntarily crash land and if I could change things, I most certainly would. I don't think you can say the same thing regarding thumbing your nose at citizenship, so I don't see the similarity or understand the faustian bargain you are trying to strike. I only bring your citizenship issue when it is somewhat relevant, like on political or voting issues. I fail to see what an airplane crash I was in has to do with Censorship on the Holland Sentinel editorial section. Goose, thanks for the kind words.

Bonds, if you want an idea what it was like, think about driving though a shopping center parking lot at 85 miles an hour, going through a cluster of shopping carts, going over curbs all while your entire full gas tank is on fire and being spilled out as you slide?
Oh, and don't forget it all started after your car was dropped from 30 feet. That you landed hard enough your head hitting the ceiling of the car deformed it.
And that is just the physical part of it. The slide across the parking lot as you are waiting for the vehicle to break up as it is next to a huge fireball as the the right tank cooks off.
By far, the most intense thing I have ever been in.

Gee, if I didn't know better, I'd say someone has a grudge with the Sentinel.
Otherwise why would you read this 'crappy' paper and spend time picking out all the faults, then bitch about it endlessly?
Just seems a bit obsessive to me

No, I really DO want to know, Galt. Some of us haven't had the opportunity or the nads to fly solo.
It's not relevant but it was posted here earlier. The "danger to the family", however you look at it, is far greater when you put yourself in a potential death situation. But then again, we all do that when we get in a car. Just reasoning aloud.
BTW, I don't use fake user names, don't post on the Suckie forums, and haven't been there in a LONG time. I might drop by once every so often. Not my cup o tea.
Is that THE Panzer?

But then again, we all do that when we get in a car. Just reasoning aloud. Oh, believe me, that crossed my mind both before and after. I have a sizable life insurance policy but I have no desire to collect on it. For the most part, I feel safer flying then I do driving a car. When I fly, I have only to worry about myself. When driving, I have to worry about the other guy. I'm doing my multi-engine training now. My instructor has over 5000 hours and never has been in an accident. He is ex-military. I have 750, and now been in one. As far as insurance accuraries go, flying a small plane is somewhere between a motorcycle and a car as far as safety goes. Goose, you ever fly a Cessna O-2 in Vietnam and/or have any opinion on them? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O-2_Skymaster

No Tucker, I have no fixed wing, military time. When I got back to civilian life, I took lessons at Northern Air out of GRR. I soloed, and got my day cross country time and about 35 hours in a Cherokee 140, but I didn't get my license.
At the time, money was pretty scarce and then I got married. In hindsight, flying was cheaper and I should have stayed in flight school and got my private pilot's license. It would have saved me a shit load of money and a broken heart.
I have about 50 hours in a Hughs 300, about 100 hours in a Bell 47G, 25 hours in a Hiller OH-23. The remainder of my time is in UH-1's, models; A, B, C, D and M. My total rotor wing time is right at 1200 hrs and 404 combat missions. Most of that time is in UH-1C gunships.
I have some stick time in AH-1G's but I was never rated in it. Also on the way home from Vietnam, I got a tour of the cockpit of a C141 Starlifter and I was lucky enough to get about 10 minutes of right seat time in it.
As far as the O-2 goes, I didn't see many of them, most of the Army FAC's flew Birddogs, but that was wayyyyyyy back in '67-'68. I know the FAC pilots liked the extra engine and speed when bullets started flying in their direction. It was also one of the few inline twin engine airplanes ever built and I have not heard much bad about them.
About the only Army fixed wing I ever heard anything bad about was the Grumman OV-1 Mohawk. Most pilots said it was a very unforgiving aircraft. But it was a cool looking plane and I would have liked to fly it.
