So, let me get this straight, a random incident where tempers flared results in someone getting beaten down by the opposition...this is...Obama's plan/fault?

Oh good, then i suppose i can blame all the other beat downs in history on whatever president was in charge rather than the incident and people there.

Honestly, this sounds like the typical scare mongering that goes on. Just like the ZOMG SOCIALIZM HEALTH CARE DEATH SQUAD MUSLIM TERRORIST FORINERZ and all the other random crap that goes on.

Question for the anti socialism crowd, do you plan on using anything that requires the majority to pay for it, like medicare, social security (hell that one's blatant enough to say it's social) and other government programs? The US right now has a bit of socialism and capitolism mixed together.

you mean like "if we don't pass this stimulus bill right away, unemployment will go over 8%"??? you mean like that? oh wait - we passed and now we have 10.2% unemployment. not to mention the ones that have run out of benefits and have quit looking for a job... WOOHOO!!! it's working great!!!

btw - are you working? hopefully you are.

No, I meant more along the lines of "Socialist healthcare will have death panels" and "the new hate bill will limit my thoughts" and "obama's plans are out to round up christians and lock them in death camps" and "socialism equals communism" and "Obama's sucking up to the muslims" and "Obama is a muslim"

The stimulus bill I see good things and bad in, it did keep the banks from dropping and a complete economic collapse from occouring. Atleast Obama attached responsabillity to the bill so the money can be kept track of rather than the uncontrolled "fling it at the mess and hope it works" prior to that.

And yes, I am working, for now.

Now remember BD, you said so. You've never taken federal aid in anything and never will, right? no public schooling, or even rescue services such as police or fire department?

Ian - it's going just fine. you just have to know what to invest in and when... so far so good ;-)
i'll promise i'll do better than So-So security and the like.... that's easy...

Well, in all honesty, the alternative is the capitalism version where you only get those services when you pay for them. Not to mention the gouging they'd be fully inclined to level on those that do pay

They are indeed a social system, taxpayers pay into it, everyone gets the services

Gouging? Does your barber gouge you? Does your local supermarket gouge you? Does your favorite rock band gouge you? They are all products of capitalism and free enterprise.

If they are gouging you (which you indicate in your post) you had better find another barber, supermarket or rock band. Free enterprise means that those capitalists have competition that you can take advantage of.

Cripes, man, this is stuff you should have learned in fifth grade. Is it any wonder this country elected a loser like Hussein Obama when the voters don't know the difference between capitalism (not capitolism, which has more to do with buildings than with money), socialism, communism and fascism. And how free enterprise differs from an economic system imposed upon the people by a totalitarian government.

And reading about the condition our education system is in, I have no hopes for the future of this country. I only hope to be dead before our government collapses and the armed gangs begin roaming the countryside.

"taxpayers pay into it, everyone gets the services" ~ Panz

And therein lies the problem. Good behavior (read working for a living) is penalized by confiscatory tax rates (read redistribution of wealth) and bad behavior (read don't work [not can't work] at all) is rewarded by being supported by those that do (read redistribution of wealth).

That is the premise of socialism/communism and we are quickly moving to that system via the morons we elect to public office.

I hope that will change next year.

So companies that offered a hard to come by commodity like gas, electric and cable, etc never charge more than you think is fair? You think multiple large corporations aren't going to form monopolies without a government smack down every now and again? You think quality and safety are gonna be a big concern with pure captiolism? History shows otherwise

you'll trust pure capitolism over what we have now?

I'm sorry not everyone can be as successful or have the same opportunities you do. i am rather thankful Unemployment was there to catch me when I fell...I wish i had some type of healthcare so my leg wasn't all fucked up from that car accident. I wish everyone everywhere could have a job that paid them enough to live on.

Daily Horoscope for December 4

Scorpio

You jump at the chance of some harmless escapism today, and it will do you good provided that you're ready to return to reality again tomorrow. Nevertheless, you shouldn't make any important emotional or financial decisions right now because you may not be viewing the situation in its true light and could easily be influenced by wishful thinking or unrealistic ideals.
