8 years old she should know better. oh maybe the parents forgot to teach her not to put things in her mouth...

My five year old would know not to swallow marbles. Why did this 8 year old not know that. This is purely the fault of the child, not the manufactuer. These parents just want to cause a fuss so they can eventually sue.
|

I agree completely. These parents are off base. They need to (1)teach their daughter about what to put in her mouth,(2)supervise her play,(3)stop blaming others for their own parenting mistakes.

When I heard the child say she thought they were candy I couldn't believe it. How on earth could she mistaken a toy for candy? Small children do put things in their mouths and should not be given this toy to play with, but older children should absolutely know better. If, at the age of 8, she hasn't learned this yet, then yes, I do believe the parents should be held responsible. Of course, as any parent knows, you can preach to your child for eons not to do something, but sometimes they just don't listen. As my mother used to say "Those that don't listen must feel". This child is just lucky to be alive.

I didnt see or hear that she thought they were candy. So after the first one when she discovered they were not candy why did she continue to swallow so many??? I am sure the manufacturer did not force the parents to buy the toy and allow a child who does not know candy from a toy to play with them. I think more pressure should be put on manufacturers to make sure the toys they put on the shelves are made with safe materials. I feel bad for the little girl and I hope she will be alright.

I thnk the state should charge the parents with neglect! why would an 8 yearold still be putting things in their mouth. Where were the parents? If the child has dissabilities then the parents should have been sitting with the child.. I think the parents are just out to get a free buck!!
|

I think the state should fine the parents for neglect! why is an 8 year old still putting things in their mouth? If the child has disabilities then the parents should have been sitting with the child. The parent must be out to get a free buck at the cost of others! And we wounder why americians are still stupid.

You people are out of your stupid minds.even eight year olds do stupid things.Back off morons!
|

I think 8 years old is old enough to know not to put or even eat toys and where was the parents when the child was eating these. I know i have a 4 year old and well she know not to eat or put toys in her mouth. Some parent need to spend a little more time with their kids.

Wow.. you make a great point.... I'm not sure what it is, but you are so right... I bet I could randomly choose 10 eight year olds, give them a bowl of steel ball bearings, and only your child would actually think it is candy... |
|||
|
The child was from another country, and didn't understand that she wasn't supposed to eat the toy. She thought it was candy--this was on the news earlier. Yeah maybe her parents should have watched her closer, but they probably didn't think they needed to b/c she was old enough to be playing with the toy. However, they didn't realize she had never seen something like this before.

As a grandparent I use good old common sense when purchasing toys for children. Any magnetic toy for kids is obviously not safe. If you really took a look at a toy and read about it you won't buy half of the stuff on the shelves. Parents and grandparents have to be responsible for what our children play with. Kids need to understand the importance of safety over the glitz.

An 8 year old should know better than to swallow toys, her parents should have taught her that a long time ago. This isn't an issue of bad toys, it is an issue of parents not watching their child nor teaching that child the proper way to play with toys. I can't imagine my 7 year old eating a magnent let alone 20 or more of them. If that child has other issues then the parents should not have bought a toy like that for that specific child.
STOP blaming everyone but who is ultimately responsible - THE PARENTS. |

the kid who eats too many marbles shouldn't grow up to have children of her own. enough said.

LMAO!!! |

LOL...mean, but funny! |

It's not the kids fault that no one told her not to stick them in her mouth. Calling the kid stupid or other names and calling the parents names, doesn't change what happened, and doesn't make this child recover faster, so don't post comments that are hateful because it only shows your ignorance. There is no point to it, and it doesn't accomplish anything. Unless it makes you feel better about yourself to put others down, and in that case, I am very sorry for you.

Your Mom says, the parents are probably only too happy to cash in on this tragedy. Maybe their ATV and doublewide payments are late, and the bank is threatening to repo the Trans Am. Mullets and marbles don't mix.
