I'm another customer waiting on a delayed package held up in Hodgkins, IL due to adverse weather conditions. When I called UPS they told me it was due to mudslides in the area. I checked out the Hodgkins, IL news and there's nothing about any mudslides in the area. What's up!!!!
My two packages are reading the same thing. Yet when you call them they say they are not sure where the packages are or when they will resume moving. They have to know where the package are and when it will begin to move again, Right, how is this possible. Yet they say nothing when you call or email just some generic comment we are sorry and we have no further information at this time. Bunch of cr_p!
That area was just under 10 feet of water and was flooded pretty bad. Usually when you get a response like that from UPS they are evaluating what got damaged. Basically they know certain trailers were under water and they pick through them to see what is damaged and then they contact the shipper for replacement packages. They are not going to tell you your package is on its way when its really not.
You cant really blame UPS for this one and im sure you will eventually get your package but their not going to ship you a wet box, if its damaged they will replace it. Unfortunately Hodgkins is right next to the I&M canal and the Des Plaines river and sits pretty low. Give it some time.
Well if my package doesn't get here in time it will pretty much ruin my wedding, thanks ups. the package is in oregon, I live in massachusetts and they won't even try and get it a little closer to me in the meantime even thought the "adverse weather" conditions are no where near the facility or me. I'm told that all shipping is frozen and they are waiting for the okay from the FAA to start shipping again, and also I'm not allowed to upgrade (even if I pay) to have it shipped to me any quicker. There's no reason they can't ship my package along a different route, any route would work since it can't get any farther from me than it already is!
Likewise waiting on a package....for a new store opening. Very frustrated, all our business cards and some important stock in that box.
I agree, UPS HAS to know where the shipment is, it is shown as having left Hodgekins, Illinois. They simply don't want to show that they take no special measures to catch up after a screw up. I hate UPS.
My package is also stuck with no change no for 4 days. Just wish UPS would issue a general statement at the very least explaining the delays and letting people know when they will be resuming normal activity. That seems like the right thing to do.
I work for a distributor in Oregon and we ship hundreds of packages a day. This delay is really hurting, but I talked to the Oregon sales manager in person yesterday and he let me know that the big problem is those flooding areas is blocking all the rail traffic they use to send packages east-to-west as Hodgkins, Illinois is their main hub for cross-country traffic. I do know that some of my packages that were supposed to be delivered on Tuesday are currently in Portland being sorted. I'm sure they are still inspecting for damage before they go out for delivery. It IS disappointing that there has been no official notice broadcast, or even a blurb on their website, but they really are doing a lot to get packaged moving. They are transferring a lot of the rail car cargo to trucks, but there just aren't enough trucks to get everything moving at once. It's really a logistical nightmare, and you'll unfortunately have to be patient. If you can ship things by Air services for the time being (such as 3-day) you shouldn't see any delays.
I have computer monitor that I ordered last week that I desperately need for my business it was supposed to be here yesterday and from the tracking info it says its still stuck in Hodgkins IL since the 27th. I live in Oregon and really hope it gets here soon, my screen printing business depends on it.
Happy to say that my package (a vintage Marshall guitar amplifier) which had been in limbo in Hodgkins since 8:00 am on 7/26 has finally had an arrival scan in Portland. Hopefully it will make it up here to the Seattle area by Monday. Fingers crossed!!!
My package also says adverse weather conditions at 7am this morning. Today was a perfect, sunny, clear day ALL DAY! The next two days will be a big snow storm so I won't see my package for a week. My package is 30 minutes from my house at the hub. Yesterday it said it would be delivered today by end of day. I get home to no package and look at the tracking number and it says adverse weather conditions? UPS is totally BS! WTF!!
My package is stuck in Hodgkins since 5:30 am wtf and i get a adverse weather conditions on ups website hope that doesnt mean it will take another week to make it to my house in Nv
I've gotten the same message....but you have to realize that there's a major snow storm in the Chicago area.... I'm sure UPS will get things moving again when airports and roads are operational.. At least packages are being held in an indoor facility...This is a major distribution hub for UPS.
Yeah I don't know about the whole Hodgkins, IL. deal. I'm getting a package in from California to St. Louis. For some reason mines in Hodgkins too.. STL is actually a wee bit closer than Hodgkins so why take it up there? They got 20" of snow and STL got around 3".
So what was the point? I think UPS should operate on Sundays if they have problems like this.
What can Brown do for me? Deliver my FUCKING package already!
ordered my parts for my bike, and now stuck in, Il 500 miles away since yesterday 1pm its been 24+hrs the condition there isnt so bad and it expected to be sunny the next day come on ups and i cant pick it up or anything. lame just lame, now if the package is damaged i expect something done about it.
Most of you people are total morons. Chicago is under 22 inches of snow, I hope some of you never see your packages. Try shipping with FedEx next time, im sure they have some super special trucks that will make it through the snow like no others can.
