It seems like there should be more events and more structure to the events celebrating the end of slavery.

Blah, blah, blah! Sure, it's easy to condemn the sins of past generations. But how about condeming the Africans who SOLD THEIR OWN PEOPLE to the Arab traders? Bet that little bit of African history isn't mentioned...We are NOT collectively or INDIVIDUALLY responsible for the actions of the dead, period. This is just cheap "victimization politics", or, to put it another way, a PC heartrending attempt to squeeze yet more money from the white middle class. Of course 'Johnny' can't read, he was born black, the heir to slavery, it's not HIS fault, nor the fault of his 15 yr. old mother, nor absent mother. Obama identified with his BLACK father to get elected. What about his white mother. If you ever needed an argument against interracial marriages, he's it!

Unfortunately it's just another way for people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who profit from filling blacks with hatred by dwelling on the past, to hold back their own people from making something out of their lives instead of being on welfare for generations. I know it doesn't apply to the whole race, but Jackson et. al. know who to target with their drivel.

Like the Jewish organizations who just got their welfare check because 4 inept terrorist were going to blow them up. They could not even blow up a firecracker together but the Jewish organizations got their welfare check.

There was such a day, it was called Decoration Day. It was to honor those men who fought to save the Union between 1861-65.

I would love to see how the "reparations" would be administered and calculated. What if you were of mixed blood? Would the "white" side of you have to pay the "black" side? How would that work? How about if your ancestors immigrated here after 1865? Would you still have to pay any reparations and how much would they be? Would that even be fair? What if your family never owned slaves? Would you STILL owe reparations? Why? What about if your ancestors fought in the Civil War on the Union side? Isn't their blood enough reparations?

The bureaucracy involved in a "Department of Reparations" would be massive, not to mention wasteful.

Reparations have to be one of the STUPIDEST ideas ever to come out of Washington, D.C.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Libra

Don't put yourself through anything that isn't absolutely necessary, Libra. After all, why cook when others will gladly serve you at their house, or treat you to a wonderful meal at your favourite restaurant? Even when you assert yourself, there seems to be a wonderfully passive quality to your manner. Now that the universe has finally decided to give you some of what you want, make sure your wish list is short and don't be greedy.
