Discovery chanel show ( A Haunting )

I just found this forum about the house in Hinsdale...it's very interesting to read but I have a question..does anyone know how many owners the house has had since the onset of the hauntings? Sorry to say, I missed the Discovery Documentary about it. I can't immagine that an older couple in their 80's would have bought the house and have to deal with all the hassles. Was the house empty for a time? It sounds like they gave tours?? Darn , missed that too!!

Boondocks? It's a 20 min drive from Olean. You live in the boondocks! The only bad "vibes" I got was seeing the posted signs and hoping they wouldn't catch me walking on their property. But you're right. Babies waking up and crying while driving down a pothole infested road is odd. So is the cat thing. Never in my life did I have or hear about a cat jumping out in front of cars!! Maybe it was possessed!!! On that note, I'm gonna guess that you are tormented by many specters in your house after you watch the movie "The Exorcist".

Sorry, but maybe I didn't make myself clear. We were parked on a back road that you could drive on that overlooked the house from the back. We could see the pond and the cat DID appear out of nowhere, jumping in front of our PARKED car. The baby woke up then, although there was no noise or bumpy potholes. My husband was trying to look around with binoculars. If you don't believe it, I'll send the "specters" from my house to yours, maybe they can explain it better to you!

Your story still makes you out to be gullible and naive. You honestly feel that you've encountered spirits because of your crying baby and a cat that "appeared" out of nowhere? You can send the specters here and I'll send you the neighborhood cats. They seem to mystify you. You know, I had a stray cat appear out of nowhere. Maybe it's my grandmother!!

We're going to take a ride out of the "boondocks" and take a look at the house, now 35 years later. If I see a cat, I'll know YOU sent it this time!

The stories of the Hinsdale house are true and I think the two of you (boondocks and My2cents ) are both being childish. It appears to me that My2cents is a skeptic and doesn't believe in spirits or the supernatural. If that's the case why come to this sight at all? I have had contact since I was6 yrs old with spirits of all types. I believe a presence that the baby sensed may have woke it but a cat coming from no where when you are in the country is not uncommon.

Yes, the ghosts "got me!" That's why I haven't been around in awhile....I jumped right out of my skin and have been confined and getting psychoanalysis treatments.

Well I just read all 111 entries and watched DC this afternoon and checked the listings for tomorrow. Apparently the Hinsdale episode airs again at 2:00p.m. Saturday May 17. I will probably watch it as I am curious as to what all the fuss is about . I will be honest I got sucked into the two episodes that aired this afternoon recalling that my sister had seen some type of being when she was staying at a house while doing summerstock downstate years ago. I was intrigued by how these specters seemed to posess and depress or opress the victims on the show. They were tortured by visions and were genuinely afraid. Now I will tell you this, I am a bible thumping Catholic and it says for good reason in scripture that we are not to consult mediums. What I believe in is good and evil. Satan has many helpers that roam about the earth for the ruin of souls. So anybody who might be susceptable to all this ghostplay can easily become unglued and diverted from the true peace that comes from turning all over to God. Remember a third of the "stars" (angels) were swept out of heaven when Satan was cast out (THE BOOK OF REVELATION). That's alot of power. Angels are the spiritual beings that are to be regarded here. Good and bad. Good angels are God's messengers bringing our prayers to him and delivering graces from the Holy spirit. Bad angels have the same abilities but serve a different master who would like nothing better than to confuse us all about what is truth. God and these angels are not bound by time. They know all sorts of things that have happened and use that information to really mess us up which is one of the reasons that we are not to know the future, but to be God's trusting people. One sure fire way to open up your soul to the demonic is to have used a Wijai (SP?) board. Totally leaving yourself wide open and unprotected there. If you have find a Catholic Church, go in and make a good confession. That preist regardless of his own fallen nature as a human being is endowed with grace from the Holy Spirit to make you whole again. It is very sad that so many people are walking around so vulnerable. This is real fire that you play with and you will surely get burned unless you reject the enemy of the Lord and protect yourself from all of his wyly ways. By the way I used to dabble in several new age practices that all sound good but are just twisted ways to pull you away from the Lord. Just something to consider. Thanks for reading.

Just a post note especially to My2cents. I like that you are skeptical about the paranormal but you needn't be so cruel to get your point across. Sure it's annoying when someone doesn't see the forrest for the trees but how will they ever if you burn them all down? No man is an island unto himself. Start trusting in your maker,your peace will come.

I saw that show on discovery channel the other day. Thank you spiritual clarity for posting that. I would have missed it. One question I have for you is that you mentioned that the catholic faith frowns upon those who use mediumship. Why did the catholic priest from St. Bonaventure(that part wasn't mentioned in the show BTW) advise the family to turn to one then? And not only that, but this priest tells the family that this medium is a friend of his. I was only wondering what your opinion was on that. If the catholic faith sees that area as "evil", does that make him a bad man? Should he still be a priest when he has been telling people to go to a medium because the Bible isn't working?

First was it an actual Catholic Priest? Was the friend a medium or perhaps a priest friend who was an exorcist?

Diabolic activity generally falls into one of four categories: Infestation (haunted houses) and obsession are the mildest. Oppression- an external attack by evil spirits on a person -is worse which can cause discouragemnt and weariness or it can put up external shows to frighten a person such as shaking the bed during sleep at night. The rarest is possession probably because it is the most obvious and devil likes to be as covert as possible.
The 3 forms of exorcism are baptism, private (simply saying "Be gone Satan" and public which is a specific ritual authorized only by the bishop.
"let no one among you be found //to be a fortune teller, soothsayer, charmer or diviner, or caster of spell nor one who conults with ghosts or spirits or seeks oracles from the dead." Deuteronomy 18:10

No priest in good standing would ever say that the bible isn't working...
