"
Douglas and his aides also maintain that wind power boosters neglect to mention that wind is an intermittent power source and that the state will continue to have to rely on more constant "baseload" power.

Symington said she envisions up to 15 wind power projects with up to 15 turbines each in various parts of Vermont, "so it doesn't feel like it's all landing in one part of the state."
"

They don't remove any 'conventional' sources of electricity, so let's put them all over the state. And don't worry about them rusting on the hilltops after the tax subsidies go away. That's only happened once before. Or twice, or three, or four...

Won't that be a pretty sight? Hundreds of rusting hulks on the mountain tops. At least people's electric bills will go up. And their taxes. Sound like a plan for the Mass. transplant.

Gaye didn't support wind power in her 4 years as Speaker. She can't be trusted.

Ditto that. And she can't be trusted on other things, either. Like voting in favor of the two-vote school budget plan at the end of the 2007 session, and then changing her mind and voting against it at the beginning of the 2008 session -- after the teacher's union got to her.

Some crazy facts for you.......

20 percent of the United States consumption of fossil fuels goes into the food chain which points out that fossil fuel use by the food system in the developed world, often rivals that of automobiles. To feed an average family of four, it takes up to the equivalent 930 gallons of gasoline per year vs. 1070 gallons that same family uses in their cars each year. 2000 gallons of gasoline per family, per year on average.

In the U.S. the average piece of food is transported 1500 miles before it gets to your plate and in Canada its 5000 miles before consumption.

The construction of the average car consumes the equivalent of 850 gallons of oil, plus 120,000 gallons of fresh water. It takes 2 gallons of fresh water to refine one gallon of gasoline. The weight of the fossil needed to construct a car is twice that of the car's final weight.

The weight of fossil fuels needed to construct your computer is 10 times more than it actually weigh's.

And 10% of all electricity used in the United States is used to support the Internet.
That means Skidee and I have to cut back on our comments here to conserve energy.

So if you see oil going towards $180.00 a barrel, the end is near and sell the out house.
