Competing with China is tough. Not just do to the low labor wages and the lax environmental regulations, but b/c China manipulates their currency to make it more appealing for companies that export out of China. Monetary manipulation, human rights violations...and yet we give China most favored nation trading status (and the perks that come with it)
However, the American worker is more productive than any other worker in the world. But rising energy costs (Obama's disastrous domestic energy policy), ridiculous EPA regulations (closing coal mines/coal plants), unknown (but rising) costs of Obamacare-just to name a few-is a hurdle American businesses are struggling to overcome, and many are failing.
When Audi decides it is more economically predictable to open their next car plant in a country run my drug cartels, with a highly illiterate work force and other infrastructure deficiencies- then take a chance in the US where taxes against those "evil" corporations can change for the worse, the US labor board force sues to force corporate expansion where they want it (Boeing/North Carolina plant), Obamacare...drastically rising energy prices...and of course, decreased purchasing power of our dollar through FED printing...
If we can't make this a better business climate for large and small businesses, we're toast.

Sorry, that you don't like some CEO getting millions of bucks, but how many people can shuffle paper, and how many can run a multi-billion dollar international company? Supply and Demand. Once you get into wage controls, why stop at CEO's? Let's just be "fair". Who gets to decide what's "fair"? The nice thing is, if a company wants to pay someone millions, let them. If it's a poor choice, if they aren't worth it, the company will go out of business and the investors/bondholders will lose money. problem solved. If you're wanting to generate wealth for the middle class, that's an entirely separate issue. Unless you're just wanting to see CEO pay closer to middle class pay, in that case, keep voting Obama. With the amount of businesses he's driving under, taxes he's proposing, etc, we'll all be paid the same rate before long. Zero. I'm not advocating wage control or CEO's pay closer worker pay - how do you come up with this stuff? It is a matter of changing corporate culture!

You are clueless; you are making a nonsensical political statement here not based in fact at all!

Good for you- as about the needy! There have been many here that fit in that category. We try to help a few we know.Kinda bad times now. You frigging nut job.

Your posts here lately make sense and you actually listen to what others have to say whether you agree with them or not and you even seem to now be able to admit that Obama and the Dem's aren't quite what you tried to make them out to be before. I like the change even though I still disagree with you on things but you just seem different and more sensible now. No matter the reason I would like to compliment you on your CHANGE! I hope this doesn't repost can't remember exactly what I said, but I'll try? First Thank you for the Compliment! I apologize for being so harsh with you.I try and be a pragmatist and reasonable when applicable. Sometimes I get upset with all the conspiracy theories. So i get carried away with my responses,As do others others on this thread. I will respond in kind when comments make sense to me. I don't drink, only to celebrate The New Year...Blood pressure problems. I don't smoke ciggerettes...never have.As for the Miracle Weed just occasionally now! Heck I don't even drink coffee. As for my politics I stand for social justice...always have. I do what I can for my local food-bank and yes some bring trouble upon themselves doesn't matter to me...can't tolerate people being hungry. I see the embarrassment in their eyes plus the appreciation. Most people's politics in this area is defined by their parents mine not so much. My mother was as staunch republican as you can get,my Father deplored politicians! As for my Country I love every square inch...there is not one person or party that can fix what ails us it will take a united effort. I don't dig the cultural rhetoric, but sometimes it's hard not to comment on some things...I find ridiculous, off base I guess I should say.Oh! Yes I will cross party lines to vote...mostly on the local level. P.S. Not all Dem's are bad! That's my humble opinion.. tofy

Want to change corporate culture? When someone commits actual fraud, charge them, and toss them in jail. When CEO's and their board of directors make terrible investments and poor economic choices for their company-let them go bankrupt and out of business, instead of rewarding their risky behavior with taxpayer money, which funny thing, encourages more risky behavior. <shocking> Disastrous energy policy? What rock have you been under the last few years? How about pulling leases for drilling oil in both off shore and land based drilling operations? Some of those leases pulled AFTER the companies invested millions in the environmental studies and test wells. Look at Obama's war on coal. Coal fired power plants are being shut down for some false assumption of "improving public health". US coal mines are also closing due to a new "interpretation" of water/mining rules. Coal provides roughly half of the electricity in this country. The effect on manufacturing, household discretionary income, etc will be staggering, even more so in a down economy, when your electric bill goes up 30% or more.

I being from coal country am an avid supporter of COAL..never the less I also know the hazards probably many of you have never seen or witnessed. Neglect of miner safety it's horrible and always has been. Friends crushed and suffocated needlessly...Acid rain, You ever been under a mountain and heard methane humming through the walls like bumble bees...because companies ignore regulations. Pure Dog holes were men scratch out a living. I'm not for shutting down of mines it's put food on many a table, but companies can afford to abide by regulations set forth from EPA to clean carbon emission out of our air. Not all started by Obama as you would like to claim. The clean air act has been around for sometime! Not all regulations are bad...Strip-mine reclamation has restored terrible destruction to our mountains, selective logging has saved and regrown precision timber lands. And most of all Worker Ventilation has saved many coal miner. So if Energy companies choose not to spend money on out dated coal fired plants..to update them to meet EPA standards so be it. They never cared about the miner and never will!

Clinton admits the Bush tax cuts should be extended or the recession will continue. Apparently he didn't get the memo from the WH that the recession is over now and all is well.
This is going to be a close one come November.
