Spoliation: To alter, conceal, destroy, tamper with, or withold evidence in a court or legal proceeding. This is a crime, and one that can carry severe penalties, if left unaddressed. For example: You are involved in a court case. You know the truth about a certain matter, which is relevent to the outcome for the opposing party. You choose to alter, conceal, hide or withold that evidence, from the court that the case is in, knowing it is important or vital information. You have committed a crime. By informing your Attorney or the Judges' office, as to that legitimate information, you may save yourself from further prosecution, fines, jail time and other legal penalties.

If anyone says it is okay to alter, conceal, hide or withold information in a case, they are telling you wrong. It is not okay, and is not the right thing to do. If you win a case with false information then you've really won nothing. The ruling is based on false information, and needs to be corrected. The truth is always best and will normally help prevent further problems. If the case is still active, the court needs to be made aware of the correct information as soon as possible.
