This is truly amazing and very surprising scinery to see. I know that the Bis Island has snow but to see this much snow in Maui is Unbelievable.
Awesome.

Hey Dex, if you ever get to the Big Isle go to The Parker Ranch Center and they have this rare photo taken back in the early 60's of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, Haleakala and Hualalai covered with snow....the angle was perfect of all 4 mountain tops. Don't know who the photographer was but that picture was pretty awesome.

Wow of course at that elevation you can expect snow, but when people think of Hawai'i, they don't picture snow!! I bet the average person thinks it doesn't snow in the islands. Great picture and article.

I would encourage you to learn a little more about global warming (which can bring about colder temperatures in warm climates) before you so ignorantly and offhandedly dismiss it.

Hawaii is probably the only place where there are rainbows, snow, hail, lightning and thunder, and sunshine all in the same day. Lucky we live in Hawaii.

I would encourage to do the same. Global warming and cooling has been happening long before man.

We should really do something about global warming. Snow on Maui? That's so unusual. Pretty soon were going to see snow on Oahu! It's Hawai'i it's not suppose to snow here except for the mountains in the Big Island!

I have a question. When are we going to unanimously decide to act collectively and do something to fix global warming?
Thank you.

Early December snows aren't unusual here in central Kansas, but the snow is usually gone by early January. The last of the December snow in my backyard didn't melt until this past weekend. buenas Aires had snow during its winter for the first time in 80 years. China is experiencing its worst snow in 50 years. Even Saudi Arabia has had snow. http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppar...

Global cooling seems to be replacing global warming. If it continues will Al Gore start warning of a coming ice age?

I just reread the article and noticed an interesting coincidence -- at least I guess it's a coincidence. the Mayor's name is Harry Kim -- the same name as one of the characters on "Startrek Voyager" who on one occasion traveled back in time.

And so what? Guys, this neither proves Global Warming nor says it's a lie. It's just snow in a place 13,000 feet above sea level. So what? Snow falls at such high places. Still, I believe global warming is a serious issue, but not responsible for this snowfall...

However, central Argentina has been being hit by storm after storm over the last weeks. That is weird. We never used to see so many and potent storms in this area. Some of them were severe. That IS weird!!!

6-1/2 feet of global warming has closed Snoqualmie Pass outside of Seattle for the last several days. I didn't expect global warming to hit Hawaii, but it appears to have. ;)

Cristina,
The last time anything was unanimously decided was when Adam decided to take a nap. Then Eve arrived, and it's been downhill ever since.

Of course it does. Global warming causes snow and freezing temperatures? Maybe AGW is all a shill and we're actually headed for the new 12,000 year ice age cycle that is already overdue.

But, only a true member of the AGW religion, can blame freezing on warming, right? Try that experiment in your stove sometime and let me know how it turns out, LOL.
