In February of 2001, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Joe Annecca was caught in a "secretly recorded conversation" listening to Anthony Centracchio explain to him how Mayor Natale had recently been caught playing on one of the town's illegal video poker machines when police raided a Stone Park bar.

Would Annecca, or Natale, or the current Stone Park Mayor Beniamino Mazullo, want their families or friends or neighbors exposed to such a store and to its clientele on a daily basis? One must assume it is highly doubtful that the answer to any of those questions would be a resounding yes.

Galaxy bookstore is not mobbed up really, no. It's a legit operation. The mob put money behind it to open it there and they used to get a cut (not sure if they do anymore). It was opened because they bribed a crooked Stone Park mayor at the time. The owner of the bookstore is not a gangster, but he tries to appear that way. His father originally owned Admiral Theatre in Chicago. His grandfather was the deceased gangster Big Dom Cortina. In the old days, adult bookstores, theatres, etc, used to be targeted by various Mob-connected crews who would make them pay extortion money basically. Not sure if that goes on anymore. It probably does sometimes.
