Review: Animal Clinic Of Hillsdale - Gary M Cane DVM

Dr. Cane is an ego-maniac. I brought my very sick dog to him, merely suggesting that he had Lyme. Cane mocked and belittled me. When the Lyme test came back positive, he couldn't even say it, he had to point to it on the page. He then sent me home with a dog that was in renal failure, he didn't tell me how serious the dog's condition was and that he should be put down. He allowed me to believe that there was hope for the dog so he could milk me for as much as possible. He caused my dog and myself much unnecessary suffering. I eventually went to another vet who by looking at the blood work from Dr. Cane confirmed that the dog needed to be put down. Dr. Cane is a maniac, I wouldn't go back to him if he were the last vet on earth.

I am very sorry to hear about your dog.I have to say he is an awful man.If you had no money to treat he would have put your dog down no matter what what wrog with him/her....I Took my cat to him a few years who had just gotton hit he had a broken leg he asked how i was going to pay for treatment it would cost 800 dollars and he would start treatment upon full payment I told him i did not have it on hand but could pay hald and work out payment ,He said the best thing then would be to put him down I was in tears I couldnt beileve this was it so i took my kitty after paying him the 39 dollar fee for looking at him and went to the next vet where I am to this day they are great with my animals im suprised I have not heard more horror stories from canes office like our's And YES kitty is fixed and doing well ..

The guy is a crackpot and should have his vet's license revoked. My dog had a torn ACL and was first diagnosed as a Lyme disease patient. We never got a correct diagnosis - after lots of money being spent. That, and having to put up with the shtick of a comedy routine that Cane can't do without. He'd last about five minutes anywhere else. I recommend people to go to Copake Veterinary Hospital on Route 22 or VCA All Caring on Route 7 in Great Barrington.

Yeah, the guy is a crackpot. I couldn't believe when he started doing his comedy schtick. I mean I had a deathly ill dog on his table and he's joking around, hardly the time and place. I suspect he does it for himself cause he knows he's about to do something evil. I received a call from the board of education where I had filed a grievance, the guy says he has received numerous complaints similar to mine about Cane, and he has reprimanded him several times. I'm not sure what they will do now but I suspect it will be business as usual. They will reprimand him and he will continue to behave like a scumbag.
