The health care situation will continue to deteriorate, and voters will remember. If Republicans think it's a victory to defeat meaningful health care and insurance reform now, they're wrong. We'll end up with a public option if not a single payer system later if this fails now - it's what the majority of Americans want.

If geezers on Medicare and federal employees can have it, why not everyone else?

Because we can't afford these programs as they now exist they are bankrupting the government. Its like paying for groceries on a credit card or your home equity (if you have any left). A major piece of the puzzle to pay for this reform is coming from cuts to Medicare so it is really just a shell game. Read the NYT article today about Maine.

The majority of Americans do NOT want the public option. Today's polls show 45% in favor of the health care bill passed by the House. 52% oppose. You are hung up on Republican/Democrat nonsense. It is the Independents that will win the day and they are opposed to the current House bill 2-1.
If you have ever had the experience of socialized medicine...and I have...you would realize it is not what you think. It is a nightmare.

I don't think you're going to get anywhere near what you want, but for the sake of discussion lets say you do get your public option and/or single payer. When grandpa doesn't get his bypass or grandma doesn't get her new hip, who's the voter going to blame? Us conservatives are doing you liberals a favor and you don't see it. If you win, you're the dog who caught the car. If you lose, you still get to demonize us.

Stop the fearmongering and propaganda.

If a public option is as bad as you describe, then why are health insurance companies so afraid of it?

They are afraid of a public option because they know it will be successful. That's why they are spending millions to campaign against health care reform.

It's all an unfunny joke
This will pass because it's a 'must-be' for the globalists
They are running these United States right into the ground

It *is* funny that the Establishment has gotten the foolish liberal base in a tizzy, literally demanding the demise the this once great Republic.

*haha*

LOL Personal experiences are neither fear mongering nor propaganda...they are personal experiences. Is it now politically correct to share only positive experiences? How silly.
Again I think insurance companies have a lot to lose financially, but I don't think they are afraid it will be successful..and for that matter neither do I.

You used your personal experience to portray "socialized medicine" as a nightmare. That is when it becomes fearmongering and propaganda.

Why do insurance companies have a lot to lose financially from health care reform?

Why do you think they are mounting this campaign against reform?

Virtually all major American corporations have left for the cheapest labor available. The only remaining are health care related and always in search of higher profits. We are entitled to the 1965 version of Medicare for all!
How strange that monies for war are never debated by either party.
Our politicians seek our votes, but always service their big donors.
Wake up America!

I have HAD personal experiences dealing with a socialized system and I did not like it, it was a nightmare for me. I never want to have to deal with such a system again. That is a personal experience and I have just as much right to express my negative feeling toward the issue as you have to express positive. It is not fear mongering or propagandizing, It is expressing personal feeling made through personal experience.... believe it or don't. take it or leave it.
Usually when a company goes out of business it loses money. I think that is probably one good reason to be against it. They don't have much of a choice do they...either lose it all or stay in business and negotiate changes. I would prefer the latter.

See the difference in how you stated it here?

Now your personal experience was a nightmare, which is a valid opinion.

Not "If you have ever had the experience of socialized medicine...and I have...you would realize it is not what you think. It is a nightmare"

And you still haven't given any details on what your personal experience was and why it was a nightmare!

This is going in a circle. If insurance companies are afraid of going out of business from health care reform, it's because they know a public option would be too successful to compete against. Not that the public option would not work.

By the way, how far did you get in our socialized education system? Did that fail you as well?

No fearmongering, just the unvarnished truth, you're simply out of touch with Socialized medicine. Please don't be telling people social medicine is great, when it is not.
It's terrible, you are the voice of disinformation.

No, there is no difference, in both statements I said it was my experience. A matter of semantics and the interpretation of the reader.
It is pretty obvious that the private insurance companies would be undercut financially by a gov't option....that is the only successful action. Nothing to do with the quality of the health care...just a matter of who gets the money...and the power to control.
Tell me...how do you equate my education with socialized medicine??
Also..what makes you think my education failed me, unless that was an attempt at ridicule, which just makes you sound ridiculous.

If you're going to be a BS artist, and spew disinformation, at least try to do a good job of it, this is very poor.

The public option means succession from the Union; bring it on at your own peril, with plenty of foresight, and an understand of what it will wrought.

A public option would have to provide quality care to be successful. I would like to have a choice of a public option. You can keep your private insurance. Why do you want to deny me a choice of public option?

You seem to have a very negative opinion of "socialized medicine". I wondered if you felt the same way about our "socialized education" system. Was your personal experience with "socialized education" a nightmare as well?

I'll take a pass on your tips for being a good BS artist. How's that working out for you?

Do you have answers for these questions?

Why do insurance companies have a lot to lose financially from health care reform?

Why do you think they are mounting this campaign against reform?

You're viewing the world from a wonderfully optimistic perspective today, which makes you feel good. However, it's important that you keep your feet on the ground and don't allow yourself to be carried away by wishful thinking or unrealistic expectations.
