Jonesville plant is not open for business. Most everyone is on mandatory "vacation". There is not official word from anyone at the plant. There was a buyer looking at Jonesville and the Mexico plants but it seems to have fallen through. Today is the first limited production (Honda only). I wish we knew what was going on.

Skd plants in Mississauga, Tomken rd. and Danbro have been under the same conflict with management.
Pickets have been set up, with a meeting last week which did not give any directing for the employees. The company was takeing all finished parts out of the building, that tells us the company does have a plan.

Yes we also had a buyer look at the Tomken plant, Danbro plant, I do not no if this is the same group or person. The Tomken plant is a new building, only one year old, everything is bran new, I understand the same was to happen in Jonesville, US. In Mississauga,we were told that it cost 10-12 million and the indirect last summer was to have the employment of 300-400 hundred workers. We have no contact which Jeff Daniels VP as this seems to be with all plants here in Mississauga and from reading US papers the same lack of communication.

They ran production on 2 or 3 shifts at Jonesville on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Honda is in the plant telling them what to build and has taken all finished goods inventory. Still no official word but unoffically SKD (at least Jonesville)seems to have been sold. What this means if if is true is unknown.

If SKD closes, then Jonesville will be worse than dead.

Jonesville - appearently there are 2 different groups looking to buy but why they would is unknown. Jonesville worked a deal with Honda and Ford. They have agreed to pay the bills for the next 60 days. After that who knows. 60 days is enough time to build banks and move the jobs so again who knows. There has been no offical word from the management of the company.

"not working" sorry to hear that you got laid off but I don't think you have any chance in a law suit. Michigan is a Work at Will state which means that you can be let go for any reason at any time. Also the Jonesville plant is not a union shop so again the amount of time you have at skd does not matter. Again sorry you got the ax but there may be many to follow if they don't get bought (still could happen if they are).

Michigan is #1 for unemployment and will probably only get worse. To give you an idea of how bad it is, I've been collecting some data from the Michigan talent bank website. In order for a person to collect unemployment one must put their resume on the Michigan website, here is a glimpse of the past 3 days. See how the number of resumes jumped and the number of jobs available declined from the 26th through the 28th? And this doesn't include people who are out of work who may not qualify for unemployment. I live in Jonesville and have been applying for $7 per hour jobs as far as Jackson and Battle Creek, no one up in town that I have applied for has called and I don't get unemployment nor have I applied or received welfare. My little savings is just about depleted and then I will begin to sell whatever I can just so I can pay the everyday bills of heating this trailer (kerosene), I know others are struggling like my family, we can only pray that things get better.
01-26-2009 Jobs Available 21,564 Jobs Today: 0 Resumes available: 865,162
01-27-2009 jobs available: 21,261 jobs today: 15 resumes available: 869,017
01-28-2009 jobs available: 21,028 jobs today: 37 resumes available: 870,345

Today will be at the table with the new owner Martin Rea. The object is to get a fair agreement as the company will not be staying in CANADA. The new owner wishes to move all locations, to USA & Mexico. The laws here do required for many to get a serviance package all we need to do is move on, and receive a package over the minium. Many of the workers do not have even 3 years service Mississagua, were others have 20 years appr. at Brampton and Milton, Mississauga has the lowest hour pay, COMPANY HAS BEEN MISS MANAGED

I was told it was... in the works... by someone who would know on January 16th. The thing he could not tell me is when it is finalized, where the work would go. THey have a big plant in Manchester.
