Full story: TwinCities.com

A plan to build a Minnesota Vikings stadium has found few cheerleaders at the Capitol, where legislative leaders from both parties said Friday the stadium push must take a back seat to the state's budget problems.

Why are we considering this? Stop stealing my money? Time to let 'em go. Should have let the Twins go. Should never have built the arenas for the Wild and Wolves (particularly TWO arenas). Look at all the money we waste on special people: sports fans (ballparks/arenas), bikers (all these good-for-five-months bike trails), lazy people (public transit). ENOUGH ALREADY! GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!

I see julie rosen is continuing in the republican tradition of stealing from the working class to enrich the wealthy. I live in Minneapolis, a sales tax of 7.75% is enough. Rosen only has to move a few miles to live in Iowa I for one would like her out of the state.

RE "Another provision of the bill would allow other jurisdictions that want to participate in financing to levy local taxes, dedicate 40 percent of proceeds to the stadium and keep 60 percent for their own facilities of regional or state significance."

So, can we vote to have our taxes raised if they promise to stay away?

I am from here live in tampa now but up to see faimly STEVE your an ID10T there talking about taxing sports stuff, car rentals, hotels (things people from out of town use) if you have ever been to the state of florida this is how we roll down there and NO STATE INCOME TAX this town will be hurt big time if they loose the vikings ( i am a fan but a season ticket holder for the BUCS) This facility I am being told will be a huge benifit to all the state from high school games to concerts to sporting events other ten football.
For a team to be competive the owner needs to make money and being from here I know how you fair weather fans treat any team that is not winning (look at the t pups) so people like you is what is wrong with this state you should move to south dakota no por teams to help keep a major meto city going. Please remember if they leave hte trickle down that will happen the jobs lost so there not 70,000 + per year jobs but the people that have them do rely on them to pay bills rent and so on, if they dont have tem there jobs you pay them from the state if the team leaves we make up the difference in the tax money lost ( not just from the team directly) just think how much money is spent in MPLS every sunday they play there and the taxes they make. I am not saying to tax to build a stadium there are better ways like user fees, licenses plates, lottery, tax on car rentals and hotels, and selling bonds to the public.
Also the state would own this stadium no the vikings and yet the vikings are still putting up a 1/3 of the bill and they will pay rent so please tell me my spelling sucks and my grammer is crappy cause i really could give a flying crap i am not in school.
This state is going to be burried soon if the vikings leave and will have the twins and wild OH BOY baseball and hockey the wild well they sux and the twins aint looking so good so far either.
but at least you have that place called the 90's you can go to.......

You are the one being selfish, you want a new stadium in these economic times. The dome can be used until the times warrant building a new stadium. As far as you stating you will punch someone in the face, I will just say there are a lot of carry permits in Minnesota, so judge accordingly.

Our lawmakers have their priorities straight, but I would offer this advice: quit watching Wisconsin to see what the fallout MIGHT be from doing the right thing and taking leadership seriously. There will always be those who will disagree. Just because we have an unpredictable governor and a loony legislative minority, the GOP majority needs to present their comprehensive budget NOW. Actually, it should have been done a couple of weeks ago, since so many were saying how 'urgent' it was.

Ah, the metrodome is getting a BRAND NEW ROOF, which will probably be good for the NEXT 20 years. The LIGHT RAIL in Mpls has killed far more people than the metrodome's roof.
Get a CLUE.

Perhaps you were unaware, but the TCF became available because it was VACANT. Even then the fans would not make the 4 mile trek, but you are correct that people are very selfish when it comes to what concerns them... such as considering their "need" for entertainment, when other individuals have real problems

HAHAHAHA

pay rent? the vikings have not paid rent for a decade

Owners not making money? what NFL owner is not making money? Show me Wilf's tax return. There is a reason why the NFL does not want to go public, because if they did everyone would know how much they make.

Prostitute Rosen and hooker Lanning, prostitution is illegal in the State of Minnesota. Take yourself and your number on pimp, Zygi Wif and leave the state immediately.

Note to law makers- as the districts of these two public whores seem to have an abundance of money to waste please enact the additional taxes on their voting districts, as well as any districts whose representative votes yes on this matter, whether it passes or not.

Dummy up. the vikes don't want to own the stadium because then they would have to pay property taxes and have to pay maintenance costs.

macking? ownes? For the most part stadiums won't allow you t0 bring in your own food - that is why they charge 5 bucks for a hot dog, so you can keep your chile safe at home.

Korey Stringer was killed while in the employment of the Minnesota Vikings and a wrongful death lawsuit was pursued by the survivors of Mr. Stringer.

Your post really enforces the idea that our spending needs to focus on education and not entertainment

One thing for sure, the politicians, special interest groups and lobbyists are going to increase the pressure they are putting on us the tax payers here in the Socialist Republic of Minnesota, and they won't stop until they dig deeper in our pockets and take more of our money for special interest. Yep! They are honing their skills of deception, it was only last week comrade Marxist Dayton wanted the Minnesota tax payers to fund what he and his fellow comrades referred to as "The Peoples Stadium" to be built right here in the Socialist Republic of Minnesota and used by the Vikings, thus allowing a billionaire to keep his money, while at the same time sticking it to the tax payers.

I know for one, I am getting about as fed up as a person can get when it comes to having to listen to all the whining and noise being created by the Vikings and a few supporters over a new stadium. As for the new stadium Art Rolnick and John Marty have the best interest of the tax payers at heart, whereas, Jeff Anderson and Cory Merrifeild have a vested interest in the Vikings. Building a new stadium should not be a problem for billionaires no different than anything else they buy, own and do with their money, when they buy all their fancy cars, private jets, manicured lawn mansions, resort vacations, all the luxuries in life they can afford. Then why do they keep wanting the tax payers to buy them a new stadium? Don't make any sense, unless of course they feel the tax payers aren't really that bright and may fall for their scam at some point. Responsible tax payers remember the names Art Rolnick and John Marty they're on our side. And forget the names Rosen and Lanning they've been bought off and no longer have the best interest of the tax payers at heart.

You're in the mood to spend money on a favourite hobby or pastime today, so take care if you're supposed to making every penny count at the moment. The temptation to treat yourself to something that you'll undoubtedly enjoy will be too strong to resist, and the trouble is that you might not restrict yourself to just one item either.
