"One player has asked for a jury trial. He says he wants to use his case to generate support for changing the law."

It won't happen. If the State cannot tax it, they won't allow it.

You guys need to check your facts. The poker game was not at Don Sorenson's house... AND that is not a picture of Don Sorenson's house that you keep showing.

Hope Don Sorenson is not thinking of prosecuting anyone when he doesn't have a problem breaking the law all night long. Bad boy - no biscuit.

Take a look at that house. How much do you think assistant prosecutor's make? About as much as a school teacher. Sorenson is rolling in the dough baby.

Not to mention he's wasting taxpayers dollars to generate support? Not a very bright move.

I'd like to know what the problem is and why this is considered a big deal! After all, the government can gamble (lottery) and the Catholic church can gamble (not to mention hide and protect pedophiles) so why can't the citizens of this great country gamble? Could it be the revenue stream the government can't get their hands on? And don't we have other problems such as drug dealing, armed robberies, murders, etc. that are more important but the government is incapable of solving those problems. Get a grip on reality and protect us from the real problems in society.

A prosecutor cannot in good faith prosecute others for breaking the law when he/she does the same. Also, if the solicitor did not accept his resignation, that says alot about the integrity and character of Solicitor David Pascoe. Maybe the voters in that circuit should be looking for another solicitor. Although the crime/offense is minor, a zero tolerance is the standard which is being set from the top down in our state's government. Governor Sanford would have immediately accepted his resignation knowing that he can no longer be effective as a proescutor.

Reminds us of the time Aiken Sheriff Deputy John Herring admitted giving a meth head $10 and was fired for misconduct. SLED ran for the hills on that one as the locals worked to cover up the termination.

In Aiken County it took over two years to serve an arrest warrant against Thomas Briard in April 2008 for criminal sexual conduct with a minor and lewd act x 2 after a magistrate signed the warrants in September 2006 for allegations received about an incident that happened on December 12, 2005. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office didn't even serve the warrant, it was served by the SC Highway Patrol during a stop where he was also charged for DUI.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Virgo

You're feeling restless and need to introduce as much variety into your day as possible. However, you'll want this to be on your own terms, and you certainly won't like it if plans are changed without your consent or you feel you've lost control of the situation. Try to take everything in your stride, otherwise you'll end up feeling exhausted and frazzled.
