New Church Coming to Highland

On January 10th, the doors will open for a new church in Highland. The name of the church is Gateway Family Church and it will start in the Highland High School commons area. This church is a growth plant from the Greater Glory Family Church in Glen Carbon and it is going to be an amazing addition to the church family in Highland. Look for advertisements and additional information in the coming days/weeks ahead regarding service time, home groups, etc.

Who will pastor this Church? I have noted that the pastors personality is generally reflected in the congregation so I wonder about this.

The Senior Pastor will be Pastor Greg Morrison. He is a wonderful man of God who has a sincere Pastors heart. The teaching duties will be shared with Pastor Sandy Schoeber who along with her husband, Pastor Hap Schoeber spent over 25 years as traveling childrens evangelist (aka The Kings Kids) before starting Greater Glory Family Church in Glen Carbon about 12 years ago. There is an informative discussion that will be taking place tomorrow (Tuesday Nov. 10th) at the Glen Carbon campus at 7:00pm to talk about the vision for this growth plant in Highland and what the plans are for this community. Anyone that is interested in hearing what this plan is or if you are just generally curious, I would encourage you to attend.

is this the Church who was meeting at the Showplace 12 cinema for a couple months? That sounded like a cool concept and I heard that that group also met in peoples homes. Highland is a great town, I think we have room for one more Church.

No, the church that meets at Showplace 12 is LifePoint. I have never been there, but have heard good things about them. The one that is branching out to Highland is Greater Glory (renamed Gateway in Highland) and there will be more info coming on plans for Highland. I know that there will be at least two Home groups that will meet a couple times a month (every other week) on different days to make it easier and more flexible for busy families. I was in Dennys in Glen Carbon tonight and some guy came by my table and left a fake coin with a scripture etched on it and a proselyting card that asked did I know if I was going to Heaven, or something like that. Thought it might be a warning about the food. It was from the Glen Carbon Greater Glory Family Church. Nice guy, just bad timing. If he hands these things out in Highland he has a lot of choices where the food should come with a warning.
