;cardinals fan? why are you so against guns? You know some day you might need one!! or you might wish you had one to protect yourself. Besides we the citizens of United States of America would not be were we are today had it not been for som hayseed half cocked hillbilly's of our country. The place you call home, but you sound like you would fit in perfect, so moved to france. They dont let there citizens have guns or thier military!

The dude in Ft Hood intended to take out as many as he could. If he wasn't able to buy a gun locally, he would have stolen a Military Gun, made a bomb, devised a scheme to pull-off a mass execution, etc.

The point is, the dude wanted to kill ...... you can speculate on the reasons why and draw your own conclusions.

Don't blame it on Guns!

One of the that Japan did not invade the main land of this country during World War II was because they new the citizens were armed!

We will stay armed!

I was there in Charolette, NC in May of 2000 when Heston said to Al Gore those famous words.

Also, when J.C. Watts (former black congressman from Oklahoma) gave the Key-note address to the attendees, you could almost hear a pin drop in the crowd of over 2000.

Lastly, singlying out a local story of a child being accidently killed with a gun is not reason to abolish ownership. People are killed in this country daily with automobiles, sports accidents, recreational accidents, etc. Should we abolish those activities?

I'd venture to say that Hunting, in an indirect way, saves lives. Example: Deer hunting reduces the population, thus less auto accidents invovling deer on the highway!

I am not a hunter nor are any of my family members. If there was a World altering event today, I would have to pay someone to kill animlas for us to eat.

I don't like guns but understand a need for them. I just don't understand a need for semi-auto or automatic weapons. I'm sure there is one but outside of the Military I can't think of one (I'm talking about things like AK-47's). But I really doubt there are that many around me that I would have to worry about my safety or that of my family.

I dont have a gun but I believe in the right to bear arms. The founding fathers had it right. If I felt threatened in my home or workplace I would want the option to buy a gun for defense of home, family and business. Not every citizen has access to competent law enforcement nearby to protect them. To be sure, those of us living in Highland don't.

All the cops even the new chief hired in Highland have been decent honorable human beings its just the job that messes them up. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
