it'll fail in the ghettto unless they have isles full of cheetos. I live in Redlands and I'll stick to Trader Joe's and Fresh & Easy in Yucaipa and Loma linda Whe it finally opens. This store is not for welfare moms and illegals-thank God!

I had to take a child to Citrus Plaza B&N for 4 Lit. books today. Though I forgot the $5 off $20 spent + free cloth tote coupon at home, we stopped in. We frequent the Yucaipa & 10W@Mt. Baldy F&E stores while waiting for LL & Rialto stores to open. SB's snuck up on us! Here's what I noted: Special parking by handicapped for those with children - what a blessing - no crossing into traffic lanes! Special parking for hybrid cars: YES! EVERYTHING: FRESH & TIDY! LOTS: Of helpful, polite, uniformed employees GREAT: DEALS on all sorts of foods,(AS ALWAYS!) BONUS: As we walked in, we passed an employee headed past us - she greeted us and called over her perky shoulder, "The strawberries are $1.50 a big box right now!" YIPPIE! Instead, we got a box of raspberries + 2 fruit salads + their #1 BEST chocolate bar with almonds YUM!+ organic limeade + pomo juice + organic milk + bread + tuna sandwich + spinach & artichoke hot pockets for tomorrow's lunch + a whole lot more but this is getting tedious!- all for just under $40 KA-Ching!:) LOVE LOVE LOVE FRESH & EASY!
Mayor Morris & Councilman Dennis Baxter deserve calls of thanks from everyone for making this REALITY in SB!
Sometimes, it seems we've been fed a line for so long, we've forgotten our manners when people actually DO SOMETHING RIGHT - The days of yammering endlessly, with nothing but a downward spiral to show for it are _OVER_ in SB - This isn't hyperbole - this is a REAL-LIFE WALK-in-it-YOURSELF _SUCCESS STORY_ in SB - one of MANY! I encourage EVERYONE to go check it out!
Oh, and as for demographics: I saw LOTS of people - the place was packed at 5:30, or so - there was some of everything in there, same as always. Does it matter? It's not a slave market, LOL!, we're there for the FOOD, not the PEOPLE :)
Oh, and as for the area: Except for the blighted old movie theater behind the place (The pastor's the one SBPD were called on at the 40th in-store Wells Fargo, last year, or so - you know, the "check theft", or whatever... besides that place, it was A-OK by me!:) And, as for the KFC - that's Sterling - and it's seldom busy - the 4 times, or so, I've driven them through for on-the-road hunger pangs, I've always been the only car driving through - never a wait, yet - in almost 20 years :)
Come on over to SB - we're a city on the move!- in the UPWARD direction!:)
Remember, call Mayor Morris & Councilman Baxter to show your thanks for this BETTERMENT in SB!:) Thanks!

Thanks, because there are some good things in SB, thats why we stay here because we love this place. I agree with some that it has its lows, but so does every city. The Fresh and Easy is nice and that corner is full of striving buisness, hope it stays that way, and for you that say you will continue to go to Redlands, don't complain that SB doesn't have anything to offer, cause when we get it you don't support it. Did you know that there is a clearance area in the refrigerated area across from the chips? I just got lamp chops 50% off! Guess what is for dinner! The prices are great! I hope they stay that way. I was happy to see the amount of organic foods they offer. I love the cloth shopping bags - I've got three already. No more plastic!

Whenever if go to Fresh N Easy, I park in the Hybrid parking and the parking for parents with children. Screw them, I pay for the hybrids from the tax breaks owners get, and parents with crumb crunchers, I have to pay for their section 8 housing and dumbo dollars for food. You as tax payers supplement these people, so feel free to park in the spaces (also you can't be ticketed).

Geez, Ken. Ever think of letting go of all that hostility? You, too, were a "crumb cruncher" once, you know.:) All of our tax dollars also pay for Department of Defense funding toward a cure for gynecological (and other) cancers. I hope this doesn't mean you'll be barging in on my next oncol. gyn. exam room during a visit, "because you've paid for the right". LOL!:)
I'm for exercising The Golden Rule.
And, I'm not sure, but I don't think Fresh & Easy takes "dumbo dollars", does it? I know Costco & Trader Joe's don't - it's part of why I shop there (great deals on quality items, too!):)

Nope, I'll bypass your next oncol, but thanks for the offer. Though, I do shop at Fresh N Easy, I'll be parked front and center in the hybrid, mothers to be or any other special parking spots they have. See you there...

Also, I do love Costco as well. It's the only place you can go to get trash bags and come home with 250 trash bags, a tent, lamps, Kirkland socks and a piece of pizza as you leave that requires 2 hands just to manage it.

Ken,
When I wrote, "...I hope this doesn't mean you'll be barging in on my next oncol. gyn. exam..." That WASN'T an invitation. I don't know HOW you came to take it as that, but, in any case, there's no need for your, "...thanks for the offer.", response.
Just keeping it real, as they say.:)
The "expectant mother" parking is at "Babies R Us", next to "Toys R Us", across the street from Citrus Plaza.
Good to know you're being obtuse at every opportunity - hope it applies to more productive pursuits, too - like neighborhood cleanups - or, do you also just "toss it" because "you can" & "that's what you pay your tax $ for"?
Somehow, I think we already know the truth.
If this stings,(and I hope it DOES reach you), may it serve as a wakeup call.
Now, about Fresh & Easy!:) I want to share one of my all-time favorite parts: The fresh organic basil plants!:) WOW! They go for $1.98 and are big enough to make mozerella, tomatoe and basil plates, or some scrumptious pasta, or a yummy green smoothie, then, I plant the plant and (most of the time) it GROWS! YEAH: FREE BASIL!:) Yes, there are plants available elsewhere, but these are organic + big enough to both harvest at once AND plant - the ususal ones for sale are seldom this big - and NEVER for as low as $1.98!:)
What's YOUR favorite part of Fresh & Easy?

You know, I bought one of those plants along with the 6 tomatoes for 98 cents, and a tub of mini mozzarella balls in brine - a little balsamic vinaigrette that ran $2.50 and lunch was done! Have you seen the frozen uncooked shrimp at the back across from the jelly for $3.99? A little water, vinegar, and Old Bay - 2 minutes in the pot and you are done. I love this place!

Fresh N Easy Fan, please grab a bottle of "Sense of Humor" pills next time from Fresh and Easy, as I was just joking about the oncol/gyn exam (though it was a very gracious offer on your part). Also, I take you obtuse comment as a complement, so Thank You! No, I dont use the "just toss it" method in my gated community tucked into the south side Redlands hills, as I have gated community pride. I prefer to toss all my trash outside of the gates, especially in the north side. As you said it best, thats what my tax dollars are for. Without trash pick up crews, how would the losers complete their community service, and sales would definately plummet for the makers of the stylish orange vests. Though, I am going to head downtown to support the local economy with a few finely mixed beverages, please feel free to leave some of the "scrumptious pasta" at my gate, as I will be very hungry later. Cheers!!

Mike C.- thank you for your gracious efforts. Unfortunately, I never mentioned that I park in the handicapped spots, feel free to reread my posts, that happens to be something brought up on your part. In my professional and accurate opinion, you need to grab a few beers, head downtown and join the rest of us!

I respectfully disagree, after our tax dollars go to hybrid tax credits, we should allow them to park in the closest spot possible? Since it's a hybrid and gets the best fuel economy, they should drive to the back of the parking lot. Also, spots for parents with children, I have kids but that's just going overboard. Being a parent and buying a hybrid are lifestyle choices, whereas being handicapped generally isn't. The only preferential spots should be handicapped, all the other ones are B S.

While being a parent is a lifestyle choice I would challenge you to go shopping with three children with one in a stroller. Do you have any idea what a nightmare it is to corral these kids through a parking lot? I don't have that many but have friends who do. I've also been on Cub Scout outings with lots of kids and can see that two parking spots at the front of the store isn't that big a deal for the rest of us to lose to harried mothers. Think of it as a good deed - pay it forward.

Like I said, having kids is a lifestyle choice. Maybe you should put a little thought in ahead of time, because getting 3 kids out of a car can be a headache, maybe you should have just had one or two and made things easier. Boo hoo, if you choose to have 3 crumb crunchers, don't expect everyone else to accomadate your choices. The rest of us already have to pay their education through our tax dollars, so give us a break and park in the parking lot and walk a few steps. Let me guess, stay at home mom, 3 kids, little chunky, and always complaining while your husband puts in 40 plus hours a week? Just a wild guess, but probably rather accurate.

You really don't read these posts, do you Ken? I said in the previous post that I don't have 3 kids. My son is privately homeschooled so don't worry about your tax dollars because your public schools suck. I am a stay-at-home mom, I'm 5'3" and 125 so that isn't "chunky" according the the BMI. My husband does work 40+ hours a week due to losing the 2nd $100,000+ salary when we decided to homeschool. I volunteer in the community and at church, and I don't have to tear everyone down like you because unlike you I have a good disposition and a life. You are a really sad person and I feel sorry for you. Maybe getting off of your @$$ and walking across the parking lot would do you some good.
