I truly feel bad for the small investors who lost their life savings with this scumbag. But, it was sheer GREED that led them to a bad decision to invest with him. Any prudent person should know THOSE returns weren't possible in any way shape or form. How many times have we all heard in our lifetime that "If it looks TOO GOOD, walk away, it's usually a scam." The other scumbags in this fiasco is the SEC, were have they been in all of this?? Every single SEC employee should be fired and replaced with competent investigators who will do the job they were hired to do. And that means investigate every single fund regardless of who controls it or how many connections they have. They had recieved complaints for years about this scam but what did they do about it, NOTHING!!! That's the real travesty. This guy should have been shut down in the early 90's but the powers that be ignored it!!! I wouldn't give 1 red cent to anyone on Wallstreet to invest, they're all in bed together, don't let anyone kid you!!! I'd rather have my money in a box that I can look at, then give it to these thieves!!!

What is going to happen to those who acted as feeders? Have they been sued?

He got almost what he deserved. The idiots that lost money with him pretty much got what they deserved. As the other poster said "Any prudent person should know THOSE returns weren't possible in any way shape or form." THey all had to know that something was up,Hell it's the Stock Market and at some point your earnings have to decrease simply because the market itself fluctuates and no broker can predict that every single time

They're not even done nailing all the losers who helped him... There's a guy in Palm Beach who's going down next...this guy was getting up to 950% return on his money, yet has nothing to show for it.... this story's far from over.

Didn't anyone ever teach these folks not to put all your eggs in one basket?
One good thing about being poor is you don't have any money to lose. |

I would liek to know ho wmuch peole INVESTED with Madoff, not what they say they LOST. There is a difference - if i invested $100, and my account goes up to $1,000,000 then back to $0, I lost $100.
The value of what is lost is only when i redeem it/cash it in. Many of these people say the lost millions, because on paper that is what their financial reports say - they only lost what they put in. That is still not insignificant, but my parents always told me two things: If it looks too good to be true it is. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. |

The reason these so called "victims"
were cheated is because they were greedy. If they were honest, they would have known better than to believe in Madaff's unbelievable returns. WC Fields put it best "You can't cheat an honest man" (Because honest men can tell a scam, and greedy men are so blinded by greed they can't see it comming) Now these greed hounds want "the government" to give them the money that they never made in the first place. Of course "the government" is all the rest of us tax paying folks who the greed hounds dont mind stealing from. |

Madoff's Ponzi scheme pales in comparison to Obama's bail out plan (scheme). In the final analysis, the "get from the haves" culture always seems to work itself onto the short end of the stick.

Lets put this into light. Stallworth gets 30 days for killing a man and everyone is cheering because Madoff gets 150 years for taking so toys away from a bunch of trust fund babies??? What have you all become??? Boo Hoo If you beat in the markets and you lose too bad you should have known better no one needs to go to jail because some rich snobs lost a little money. I guess money is more important then human life!! The worst part is half of you will go to Praise God on Sat. or Sun. and think your good people. Get a grip. The man didn't kill anyone he just to thier money. Half the people he took the money from steal from us everyday of our lives and they don't go to jail for it!! Even our own government steals from us and we pay them to do that. Live and Let Live!!

The investors who lost money with Madoff, were greedy in life. They all wanted a higher rate in return than what the banks were offering. It was a gamble, and they lost. Madoff is in prison now, but these investors still won't ever see your money. If most of the investors made money before, they still can do it again.
Someone like 83 year old Ralph from Tamarac, should look to forgive Madoff. That is one of the hardest things to do in life, to forgive someone who did wrong to you. I should know. I was wrong by so many people. I cannot go into details, but if I did tell you what happen to me, it would make your mouth drop to the floor. But I told God I have to forgive them if I wanted to get to Heaven, I have to let God deal out the punishment to the people who did me wrong. And let God tell others who just joined in to prosecute me, the true story of what happen to me, who was responsible and the reasons that were behind it. I could have taken the law into my own hands, but I would have been more wrong than the people who did wrong to me. There is a passage in the Bible that has Jesus asking a mob who wanted to punish a women who sinned, to let the first one cast the first stone who was without sin. The judge in the Madoff case, will be judged himself one day. So will the prosecutors, the jury and all others in this world. Madoff had a sickness, it was greed. Madoff just effected others with his disease. Everyone wanted to make more money. It would have been nice if all these investors just helped the poor that were around them. Instead of buying expensive cars, boats and bigger homes, these rich people could have helped a poor family or a homeless person with a meal, a job or some clothes. Some of these rich investors could have hired more out a work people at their companies, instead of buying a villa on a Carribbean island. There are more Bernard Madoff's in this world. Waitng to take someone's money on a promise of a higher rate of return. Madoff will be living in a private cell, watching tv, eatting pizza and reading the WSJ. His wife will have enough to live on. Maybe making some small investments with a profit road. Madoff is gone from your lives for ever. So is the money you all once had. Everyone came into this world with nothing, and we will all leave this world with nothing. God might make Madoff suffer 15 years in prison before he takes him. With that, God might say to Madoff, "Your punishment is done for the sins you have committed, welcome to the Kingdom of Heaven." People like Ralph, William, Abner and Dominic will have to see that money is their God. These people are the ones who need to seek forgivness later in life from God. They all need to forgive Madoff for what happen to them. Forgivness is hard to do to someone who did wrong to you. If I can do it, everyone else can. |

2 years would be more than enough.
Then give him weekdays out to work and attempt to make restitution. Vengeance is stupid. |

I truly feel sorry for Madoff. Very sad situation. He probably just got in over his head, that's all.
