Obama or McCain and why?

I would just like opinions on which candidate you like. I am a young voter and have been following the election for months, but I am still on the fence. I am usually republican but this year I have been thinking more democratic.

You gotta get the past the candidates and look at the policies they espouse.
The facts are that the Bush/Cheney admin. has botched EVERYTHING it's has gotten it's hands on for the last eight years. John McCain has voted with the Bush-ites 95% of the time -- we have major league problems in this country and a McCain presidency would continue the horrendously failed policies of the Bush/Cheney cabal. An Obama presidency would move the country in a different direction. It's pretty simple: If you like the way things have gone in this country for the last years, vote for McCain. If you want to see changes made, vote for Obama. |

Judged:
1 I agree. This country can't afford another minute let alone another four years of the Bush administration which is exactly what you would get with McCain. |

Why? And I'd like reasons to vote FOR McCain, not reasons to vote against Obama. |

Reasons to vote for McCain:
He understands war, because he has lived through it. Doesn't it bother you that all of the countries that we don't get along have endorced Obama?(Chavez, the Iranian President, etc) Obama is all about change, and wants the government to support people who don't want to support themselves keeping them in the same social economic status with no motivation to improve. Obama wants to give money to everyone, even if they haven't earned it. I refuse to pay for more people who don't want to work. I have enough bills, lets not pay for others. He is against drilling. The only way to threaten the foreign drillers is to take away their supply. He is liberal in terms of the illegal alien issue. I believe illegals need to go home and all of the employers need to be punished if they are found working for them. Once they leave, our legal citizen could work and not have to compete with the low wages given to the illegals. They are ruining are health care and our economy. I hate how everyone says how Bush has messed things up, but I think that you forget the policies that were created by the Clinton administration is the reason why we got attacked Sept 11. Clinton had the worst foreign policy ever created. He could have had Bin Laden, but he didn't pull the trigger. In Somalia, there was another terrorist cell that he didn't engage. They new about the Taliban... and didn't do anything about it. There has not been another homeland attack since 9-11, and we have to give his administration credit for that. Finally, I appreciate my right to bear arms, and I don't want a liberal democrat to take away those rights. I look forward to the democrats of Lafayette County voting Republican this election. I don't care who you are, the old, white, farmers aren't going to vote for a black man who keeps asking for change. |
|
Ok so obviously you don't actually know the policy of either candidate, so maybe if you can't make informed logical statements, just don't make them at all. It is better not to vote at all than to cast an uninformed misled one. Oh and I think blaming Clinton for all of Bush's mistakes and shortcomings as President has run its course. You are going to have to do better if you want to convince people to vote republican. |

McCain has p***ed away the only real issue he could have used against Obama -- a lack of foreign policy experience -- with his choice of Gov. Palin as his running mate.
President McCain might very well die in office; who in their right mind wants to see President Palin take over? By 2016, Gov. Palin might be a good choice for veep. But in 2008, Obama's choice of Sen. Biden rates an "A" and McCain's choice of Gov. Palin earns a big fat "F". More confirmation that McCain is not the sharpest mind around... |

Missouri will be a republican voted state strictly because the rurual voters aren't going to vote for a black candidate. I understand why you would vote democrat, being that you live in Lexington... what a horrible place. They are use to giving out handouts. Keep paying for the drug addicts and the welfare receipents so I don't have to. Good luck with your blind sided Obama Change policy.... you know, the only difference between oBama and oSama is the BS!!!!:)

|
I'm sorry for how you feel about our new President...better get used to it sweetie, the black man is here...it's time to put the racial crap away. We need new leadership plain and simple. You dont have to be a brain surgeon to know that if you vote for McCain its 4 more yrs of the same!!! Idealogy is nice, but its not what this country needs. I'm sorry that you hate Lexington...actually I think its endearing to live in a community that you think would offer a person in need a "Hand Out". And as for paying for drug addicts and people on welfare. 1. I hope for your sake you're never on Welfare. 2. I hope that nothing catastrophic ever happens to you or even your child ( if you have any) because it might be that very community (or one of its residents) that you say gives hand outs that might have to help you. Ohhh and one last thing... and I say this with authority because its what I do for a living. You are paying for the drug addicts and welfare recipients, every time you get your pay check and the state of MO has taken some taxes from you. How do you think our offices are partially funded? DUH!!! |
|
|
I have lived outside Lexington,... and I can say this with authority, that your community is not giving, but a society caught up in social niches. There is nothing endearing about a community that has a horrible school district, a bad police department, and city administrators that are ... questionable. I am happy that a black person is running, in fact, I would love it if Collen Powell or Conelezza Rice was running, but Obama is an awful selection.
It doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that in the middle of a war, you don't want someone without national security experience. It doesn't take a brain surgeon that you are getting a load of the same argument over and over--- reform social security, Medicare, Medicaid, the economy, etc... there are never any actual answers. Obama wants to tax the top 5% of our wealthiest people. That doesn't seem fair since they are paying the most taxes now. They are against drilling, and they want the illegals to become legal citizens. This is an major issue that is killing our economy. Lexington should understand the problems involved with illegals. Lexington is full of fake people who don't want to accepty that their community is deteriorating with the burden of social services and renters saturating their community. The government is not here to take care of you. You should take care of yourself..DUH!!!!!!! |

Aw geez -- I read some of the stuff spewed forth by people on the this forum and it clear that too may of them have been drinking the republican kool-aid. Or listening to so much right wing talk radio that it has turned their brains to mush.
Many right wing screech monkeys rail against anything that smacks of "liberalism". But here are just a few of the good things that those of the "liberal" stripe have come up with in the past 60 or 70 years: Social Security, Medicare, the Interstate Highway System, guaranteed bank deposits, rural electrification, the minimum wage and collective bargaining, the federal school lunch program, food stamps, Head Start, WIC, aid to education (including a variety of federal student loan programs), the women's movement, the civil rights movement, the Clean Air and Clean Water acts, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the graduated income tax, etc. etc. Okay, right-wing crackpots: Which of the above-mentioned programs or components of programs would you be in favor of eliminating? Rural electrification? Guaranteed bank deposits? Medicare or Social Security? But seriously folks -- twenty years ago I thought that Ronald Reagan and that bunch were the biggest collection of crooks, scam artists and opportunists that this country had ever or would ever see. However, compared to George W Bush and the people who tell him what to do, the Reagan guys were Boy Scouts. The Bush-ites also brought along some of the worst guys from the Reagan administration and turned them loose. Since the Bush-ites seized power in 2000 (with a boost from the Supreme Court) I've been of the opinion that George W Bush is nothing more than a front man for a bunch of thugs who are leading the raid on the US Treasury -- Much in the same mold as Reagan back in the 80's. In the current adminstration, W has done what he as been told to do, says what he's been told to say. He has made no policy decsions. None W says what he's told to say, does what he's told to do. He makes no policy decisions -- none. Cheney, Rove Rumsfeld, et al, have run the show. John McCain is on the verge of being a doddering old man -- if he were elected -- or "appointed" by the conservative wing of the Supreme Court - he'd be just like W and Ronald Ray-gun -- out there pushing the product, reading off a teleprompter. The republicans cannot run on domestic policy. They don't dare. The do the same thing each and every election: play on the fears of the people. The neo-cons take advantage of the fact that the vast majority of the American people are politically illiterate. Millions of Americans (like the thick-skulled people who soak up right wing talk radio) vote their biases and misconceptions rather than voting in their own self-interest. Millions MORE will blindly follow any scoundrel who waves the flag and vote accordingly. In this election, however, there are two very distinct choices: the past (in the person of John McCain) and the future (Barack Obama). Again: if you are happy with the way things have panned out in our country the past eight years, vote for John McCain. If you see changes made, vote Obama. |

Dubya's is the biggest and most reckless spending administration in U.S. history -- with the biggest and most reckless deficits in U.S. history -- and the worst and most corrupt spending priorities in U.S. history.
BTW, the latter includes Gov. Palin's state of Alaska, which spends more federal pork barrel dollars per capita than any other. Ever heard of the "bridge to nowhere"? See this article from the Anchorage Daily News: http://www.adn.com/sarahpalin/story/511471.ht... Sarah goes whichever way the wind is blowing... |

WTF? Sarah Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her daughter who was pregnant?

I appreciate the creation of the medicare and social security plans.. however, my 93 year old great-grandmother, who has saved and worked her whole life, can not get any medical assistance for her in-home care since she has had a stroke. She gets to spend $6,000 a month on care. Once her entire savings are spent, then she will qualify. What a waste of time working and saving. I guess the slackers have the system down. I could care less for Social Security... I think the government should allow people to invest the Social Security payment that is taken out of their checks, and invest it any way they like. It won't be available to me when I need it as the current system is set up. Why not give me this option? I know this is a republican point, but I understand that the dems want to support the people who don't want to save money for their own Social Security.
Are we forgetting about the illegals that we are paying for? Why aren't we watching the border. If you want to pay taxes and become a legal citizen then do it. There should not be any room for amnesty. I do not support all of the decisions of the Bush administration, but I don't care who you are.... if you understand your taxes, then you will understand how effectiveness of the $2000.00 tax credit. Figure your taxes without it, and then let me know if you come out ahead. I am sure you won't. If the dems get rid of that, then we will all be paying a lot more in April. It is clearly two theories of thaught. If you believe that your government should make all of the decisions for you in terms of health care, retirement, and any other issue, then vote Democrat. If you believe in achieving for yourself, and not wanting the government to take care of you, then vote Republican. Palin is an interesting choice... personally, I think both campaign selections are awful... who is the lesser of two evils? Who do you trust? That will be the question when they go and mark their ballot. |

You bought the entire pack of repubican wolf tickets. I'm not gonna sit here and say that the Dems have all the answers -- they don't. Having said that, at this point in time the Dems are on helluva lot closer to it than the republicans. In this election you have two clear choices: change (in the form of a Obama presidency) or keeping the status quo -- in the person of John McBush, 72 years old with about a zillion miles on his body. His mental faculties are waning as well: The guy can't even recall how many houses he owns. Further, McCain's selection of Palin as his running mate is an indication of how desperate McCain's people are. Conservatives have been running our country for a generation -- and they've run it into the ditch. They had their chance and they blew it. I see the possibility of Democratic landslide-type victory in November. But you keep listening to Limbaugh, Savage, Hannity, et al. And be sure to keep drinking that kool-aid. |
