I have never understood why black people name their children bizzare, ugly, weird names..the poor children have the burden of having these hidious names their whole lives. I know of this black woman who had twin boys and she named them "Orangejello" and "Lemonjello". Everyone makes fun of their names...
"Why do black's name their kid's ugly name's?" They name their kid's names? How can you name a name?

I think it is so funny that black people walk around with their chest puffed up and proclaim that they are "African-American." Truth be told, if some of them actually went to Africa, they would probably be turned around at the airport and told to go home.....
At least your statement is true, but if truth be known its society that wants to label blacks "African American" not necessarily blacks. So we should tack on everyones ethnicy to everyone. German American, Irish American, French American, Swedish American... wow i could do this allllll day, not just those of color, Mexican Americans and Asian Americans. By God, if we were born here we are ALL Americans no matter what the color of our skin. And as far as traveling to Africa and other contries, everyone whos put rude postings on here, should get out, go travel and "Really See" the rest of the world, then maybe they could see why everyone of all races and colors came here in the frist place. For freedom and equaility. Maybe you will be proud to have a nieghbor whos black with a name you dont like, because your just proud to be IN AMERICA, where we have the chioce to name our children what we wish, not what we are told or fell we should because we dont have the freedom too. If a few of you would look beyond your backyards and see what the world is really about, you would see its not about petty stuff like someone elses name !

This is a very sad post. People name their children what they want to name their children. It's all an opinion if you like the name or not but why critize others likes or dislikes? Its a personal prefrence. I have never been around anyone that smells "funky" that was clean. I have been around people of all nationalities and I have smelled lotions, soaps, perfumes, etc. that I didn't prefer but that is not the person that smells "funky". It is the product that he/she likes and chose to wear that I am particularly not fond of. Does this give me a right to critize this person and hurt their feelings? No it doesn't. If everyone could agree to disagree and let every live as they choose to as long as they are not hurting anyone this world would be a much better place.

Personally,I would prefer a different name for my child so people don't confuse her/him with everyone else. If I hear my child's name brought up in conversation I will know for sure that they are talking about my child and I will know wether to praise or punish (after investigation into the situation) my child.

Live and let live. Hatred is a waste of time and energy.

What an ignorant post. Don't hide behind the internet, if you want to know about the origin of a child's name, try asking their caregiver. What you may find to be "ugly" may be very meaningful. I dare u to ask a Black person face-to-face instead of through this laughable display.

Oh, & to "Topper from Hickory, NC," white people are NOT originally from the United States, either. Do your research. Most white folks are from European countries and would DIE if they had to return, as well. White people stole this land from the Native Americans. THIEVES!

And what kind of people still act entitled to be paid back in cash for slavery that never affected them or their previous 2 generations and would rather STEAL from the few hard working peoples tax money from government handouts. Those are the kind of people that make me sick. That's a thief.

Here's a more pressing question:

Why do white trailer park trash insist on naming their daughters Tiffany, Lexus, Mercedes, etc?

It's not the question you ask but the way you ask it. If you were to come up to me and ask my child's name in a way such as "That's a stupid name! Where did you come up with that one?", yes, you probably would get a nasty look and possibly hear a few choice words. If you were to ask in a manner such as, "I haven't heard that name before. Is that a family name?", I would gladly tell you. It doesn't matter what color my skin may be, there is always a right way and a wrong way to approach someone.

I've only had one problem with racism since moving to Statesville and I moved from a very racist place. The lady was black and I am white. She was older (50ish and I was 26) and didn't have the degree needed for the position I filled. Even though she had been there 7 years she did not qualify for the job. I was warned before I began working with her that she was racist and would give me a hard time. After two weeks of her trying to pull her childish crap on me I set a meeting time and sat down with her and defined our job description with her in writing. I told her that I was not there to take her job and she was there to help me do my job. Both of us were to work together to achieve our goal. After I did that I didn't have another problem with her. She later admited that she had a preconceived sterotype of me because I am white, my age and where I had came from. She apologized that she had wrongly judged me. We worked well together. When I left the company the company was worried about putting someone else to work with this lady due to prior difficulties with other pairings. Before I left I reminded her to not judge people before she gets to know them. She laughed and said she will try hard to remember that. She left the company two months after I did. Overall, I would not call it racist heaven.

In my experience they have the middle names of Lee or Ray, Wayne or Ann. Mary Anne, Louann, those kind of names are more accurate. I've met much more trashy Amys and Jennifers.

Well at least that way growin up an school would be more tolerable I remember we had a Chevy - i think or Chevrolet in Statesville middle maybe it was just a nick name but that poor girl put up with a lot due to that name if you think the dumb people here are bad remember school was much worse Im all for originality but some names just sound silly or are to exotic for names for people born in the US not just here but anywhere in the US. Chevelle that was the name and she was a thick girl too
