Cool discussion! Brings back memories. Best show I ever saw there was the Nighthawks, back in the Jimmy Thackery days. Man, those boys could rock the house.

I was the bass player in Hazelwood..........loved playing at P.B. Scotts.....Played a New Years Eve with the Dixie Dregs....Think it was a gret time.........what I remember......got to relive some of the good times while playing at Canyons a few times in the past few years as some of their folks were associated with P. B. Scotts.

Cheri wrote: I couldn't believe I found PB's on the internet. Anyone remember Brian and Cheri Fussell. My brother was one of the original owners of PB's and the designer of the Geodesic Dome. Would love to hear from anyone that has fond memories of all those nights that PB's operated. Who remembers seeing Catfish Hodge and his band? Tom Grill, Brian Fussell and Kevin Brogan bring back memories. I was an original partner. I booked the music for the first 2 years. Jeff Burkhart

Tom Grill, Brian Fussell and Kevin Brogan bring back great memories. I used to book the mysic at P.B.Scott's for the first 2 years. I ended running off with the Dixie Dregs. That started a 30 year carreer touring the world with bands doing robotic lighting. Jeff Burkhart

Great article! PB Scotts is still my all time favorite club. It’s hard to explain the people, the rock n roll and the energy that it had. And the institution it became in its short life time. Even the line in the parking lot waiting to get in was a great party. Nantucket Sleigh Ride was a favorite as well as Curtis Wright and the Super Grit Cowboy Band. My bother and I would ride up the mountain from North Wilkesboro on cold winter nights in my old Camaro to hook up with friends from Kingsport TN. When we heard they closed PB due to liquor laws we were crushed. I drove by a year or two later and I just I couldn’t believe it. The building was being used as a flea market…..the parking lot strung with broken down tables heaped of moldy junk. It was sickening watching vultures pick through garbage on such hallowed ground…..they had no idea the foundation that ROCKED under them. I had to turn away. I’m glad to see that others saw what we saw…..and understand what a true club should be. Thanks for the great memories of the best Halloween and New Years Parties ever.

I grew up about 35 minutes from PB's in the mid-70s. Many nights, my friends and I would go to PB's, listen to some of the best music around and get track back home after the show. Now, in our early 50s, we still talk about Nantucket, Sidewinder and the Super Grit Cowboy Band when we are all together. PB's is still the best place to listen to music that I have ever been to.
Like Kenny Mon, it was a very sad day when PB's closed down. I was in Winston Salem by then but hated to see that great building with all those memories of great music and good times wasting away.
There was a group that played there a few times, I think they were from NY. Female lead singer, did a lot of Heart songs, Joan Jett stuff..........played there on New Year's Eve one year, probably in 78 or 79. Does anyone remember the name of the group?
