I took two huge baskets of items to the Style Exchange, and they only accepted a handful of stuff, because some of it was bought over 18 months ago (that is their age limit)... and I have TONS of designer/brand name clothes to sell! I am wondering if there is anyone who knows of a good adult consignment store that buys clothes from you.

The style exchange gives you cash or store credit. I want to find another store like that, that is not so picky and doesn't only buy clothes under 18 months old.

Any help is really appreciated!!

there's one i seem to see everyday on hwy 127 in viewmont. don't quite recall the name of it at this moment, but it's on the right side heading north, in a small group of stores. i think "consignment" is even in the name of the store. hope this helps some.

There is a consignment store on Springs rd across from Shuford Credit Union and on Old Lenior Road. The consignment stores on hwy 127 do not take adult items unless it is maternity.

i use pokka dots consignment store for my children's toys and clothes.

i have taken stuff to style exchange. the last time i got about $12 for a sweater, 6 tees, and 2 pair of jeans. all name brands btw. not much but better than nothing. there aren't any other stores that accept adult clothes as far as i know. unless, like mom0f3 said, it's maternity.

sorry.

I also use Polka Dots and have always been pleased with my earnings but I did try the place beside Toyrus and was NOT happy at all.

i would rather have a yard sale, and then take what is left to christian ministry or consignment. for a sweater, 6 tees, and 2 pair of jeans, you could have done better than 12.00 selling it in your own back yard.
just my opinion, consignments rip people off. i bet they charged 12.00 for just one pair of your jeans!

polka dots is great and i make quite a bit of money there but then i spend it in the store for things the kids need. what they can't sell i donate.

mwd, you're right about the $12 but w/4 children every little bit helps. luckily a lot my 14yr old's name brand clothes will be donated to my younger daughter:).

i had a yard sale last summer. 5hrs of my time and i made about $70. it was a lot of work. i'd rather sell what i can at consignment and donate the rest to the salvation army.

samantha, i can certainly understand that. i have three kids, we have a certain corner in the shed, before we moved it was a closet. that we put all yard sale items (things that the kids have grown out of, things that we no longer want, and it makes it much easier.) with three kids, i certainly would rather have the extra money in my pocket.
whatever, works for you, though, is certainly the way to do it, right?

There is a really nice consignment shop that sells home decor on Highway 70 SW beside EZ way Auto. He has reasonable prices, some antiques and a knack for nice decor. His shop is called This N That.

i saw an ad in the hickory daily record today for "the perfect spot" a resale store that says they accept juniors clothes and baby equipment. it's on springs rd across from shurtape and credit union.

i don't know anything about it and haven't been there but might be worth checking out.

I also think there is a clothing consignment shop in Longview near the Galaxy. There is also one in Granite Falls on 321 on the right. I cant remember the name though.

Yeah Style Exchange deals with abercrombie type brands so it can be pricey depending on the brand you want. I get good money there too. I took 2 pairs of jeans and 3 sweatshirts, all were hollister, and they gave me $45 and if I had wanted store credit i think it was $50. I think if you take good stuff, you get paid good. I have taken old navy jeans before and they only paid like $4 for them but I usually take in good better. Hope this helps.

I can't seem to find their phone number. I have the most awesome lot of infant 12-18-24 months boys. Every single item is from either childrens place or baby gap and most have matching accessories,(hats, gloves, vests, socks, shoes)
can you post it? I tried Jitterbugs on 127 and can NEVER get an appt.

Jitterbugs in Hickory is my favorite but I am very aggravated with them. I started calling in June to make an appt and they told me they didn't start accepting appts until Aug. well, guess what? I called at the very first of the month and they are "all full" They have no idea what type of clothing they are turning away!

donate them to salvation army tell them what u think the value is and they will write you a receipt and you can claim them on you taxes as charity. they will sell them cheap to people in need everybody wins except the IRS.
Designer clothes 18 months old are out of style anyway and are hard to get rid of.

Jitterbugs is amazing! The women that work there are very nice and helpful. The clothes are top brands with great prices. I have shopped other consignment in Hickory and Jitterbugs is by far the best. Guess that is why they have been around for so long. They know what they are doing.
