I was recently in Food lion on 127 and I was at the check out and there was this young lady (early20's)and I usually get a HI how are you today? but this girl never said a word to me didnt look at me and and acted like I really bothered her when I ask for cigaretts and I brushed it off and went out the door almost running to the car to see if I had anything growing on my face. I like that store and most of the employees are nice but this is not the first time its happened its just the first time I gotten to sit down and express my opinion about it. I will continue to shop there and hopefully this young lady will come around and be alot nicer next time or I will have to say something to her magr.

i've noticed the customer service people are like that at this Food Lion. and NO, it was not brenda from Lowes Foods, she's still there, thankfully. everything seems to be opposite when it comes to food lion and lowes. grouchy staff and management and nice fellow customers at food lion; nice staff and management and grouchy snobbish customers at lowes. go figure.

a case in point-i was there once, at Food Lion, and went to the "12 items or less" lane. the smarta$$ kid running that line looked at my cart, while still with the customer in front of me, yelled out that he was not taking me due to the items in my cart. i gave the first of my "go to heck" looks. so i moved to another lane, like a fool. some woman with a kid then moved up in his line, and i watched to see how many items she had. it was WAY more than mine, that was plain to see. when i got checked out of the line i went to, my receipt said 11 items. i then proceeded to point out to him that i had 11 items, and the woman that replaced me have more than that. chaos then ensued, so granted he's no longer there. i've seen him and his goth-like girlfriend cruising around walmart a few times on friday and saturday nights.

I shop at the Food Lion in question and dislike being greeted as I enter. I don't need the spotlight and would rather not be yelled at. But after that I have always found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Maybe you just caught someone on a bad day.

I have been told by many employees that there is people who's job is to go to food lions and just walk in and see how they are greeted. The emplyees are required to greet each and every person as they enter the store and welcome them to food lion. Its the dumbest thing I have heard but I guess the employees dont want to be fired for failing to speak to someone and they dont know who the people are that food lion send out.

I dont care if I am greeted when I walk in...I know they have to do that but all I was saying is that this young lady was either having a VERY bad day or just hated her job that day and it got taken out on me I love Food Lion and will continue to go into that store.

I know several people who work at Foodlion - they are FORCED to scream out the WELCOME TO FOODLION, if they are caught not "greeting" they get written up. So if you are in line paying and engaged in a conversation with your cashier, she/he is still required to rudely interupt you and scream "WELCOME TO FOODLION" at the new customers entering the store. Every time I go in the place and get assaulted by the "WELCOME TO FOODLION!!!" I totally forget what I went in the store for in the first place. This employer should be demanding friendliness and courtesy from their employees - not forced, cold, rehearsed greetings that no one wants. What marketing genius came up with that crap? And honestly I still think Foodlion cashiers are far more friendly than those of Lowe's Foods or Harris Teeter. But who can afford to shop in those stores anyway??!

To: Why Me,
The girl that did not speak to you should not have to. Chances are you were trying to be a cute ass! Didn't work did it!! Just pay her for the items, she gives you the correct change, that is all that is required. Move on!!!!!

Sounds like some moronic concept from the big wigs in Salisbury. Most of them probably came straight out of college with no grocery experience at all. They probably couldn't even bag their own groceries if they tried, let alone tell other employees how to do it.
I can see an employee working in a dept. you're shopping in asking you if you need any assistance if you are within 15 feet or so, or an employee who's stocking on an aisle you are going down. I hate being in a long line hearing "Hi! Welcome to Food Lion!" 15 damn times before I get checked out. I can't wait until the holiday arrive; I guess it will hit about 50 then.
I love the, "Thank you for shopping here. Come back soon!"

no, i remember a shoe store at the mall did it, many years ago. the person working yelled "welcome to shoe show" so loud, i'm sure the whole mall heard it. i turned right around and walked out. it's one thing to welcome someone to a store, but when it's yelled out, just because they're told to do it is another thing. there are ways to do things, and ways not to do things.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Aries

Christmas Eve finds you happy and eager to get the most out of the day. You're in a rather sentimental mood, so if you've got time you'll relish the chance to watch a favourite film, especially if it means you've got to get out the hankies. A friend's kindness or sensitivity will delight you - and make you wonder how you can reciprocate.
