Glad I live in a State that allows us to carry a concealled weapon. This nut case would have taken one swing and then it would have been "night, night Irene." Oh yea and please don't tell me he was mentally ill. So sick of that excuse.

My God this poor guy had some horrible luck...Trevor had done 3 tours in Iraq, shortly after he returned home he was attacked by two men at a house warming party and stabbed several times, suffering some pretty serious injuries, and now this?!?! I send my condolences to his family and friends, 23 is way too young to go :(

Found information on the victim, Trevor Nieman, that he was stabbed in an altercation back in May of this year...from the same town, appearing the same age, not sure if it is the same person.
And not that he deserved to die by any means...no one does. But is it possible he could be instigating these altercations? This is why people need to keep their anger and their mouth in check....as mad as you get at someone, you never know what comment or gesture you might make could send them off the deep end!

If your state allows concealled weapons than maybe this nut case would of had one as well and would have shot you before you before you shot him.

Thoughts and prayers to Trevor's family and friends...he served his country through 3 tours in Iraq and then to be attacked at his homecoming in May and now murdered while doing a job to support his family is just so unimaginable....His attacker had been released from prison for previous rape, murder, etc and was already a 2 striker....I hope he wasn't one of those early release candidates that got dumped into our community....If so, this is a perfect example of why these people should be kept behind bars for the full term of their sentence or never released back into society again....I can't imagine the grief and pain that this family and friends are having to cope with...My heart really goes out to you all...RIP Trevor, dedicated marine and son to us all...

You dont get out of jail on a murder charge, let alone a rape and a murder. People like you get everyone else fired up on locking everyone up forever. Side note when the news says a person gets 15 to life but then quickly adds "He,She will be eligible for parole only after 7 and one half years" thats true but it doesn't happen. We as Americans are eligible for all kinds of things but do you ever get them? P.S "Don't speak unless you can improve on the silence"

Steve... they are not an idiot. It was a fair question when this young man has been brutally attacked 2 times in one year... one being his own house warming party and got into an altercation with his neighbors. That also makes me think he could be an instigator. Not that he deserves to die for possibly and most likely being hotheaded, that's still horrible and uncalled for. Don't bring up a hero story of putting their life on the line for us because many of the young men who join the military are troubled young men with extreme tempers and many other troubling or violent problems. Many of them join the military because it's either that or end up in jail. Very few in our military these days are "good ole boys" and could care less about being a genuine hero... they are just looking for a way out or an opportunity they can't get anywhere else so they join the military. And what I have read and seen of Trevor in pictures and on the news after the first attack, he seems to fit that profile to some degree that I wouldn't assume he's such an innocent hero. I'm not saying Trevor was a loser, but there are many victims of this crap society that we have nowhere to turn and it's no surprise we develop many behavioral problems and short fuses. Let's not mush it all up into some sappy hero story when it's not and maybe we can all learn from this because we all lose our tempers and something like this could happen to any one of us, especially in times like this when everyone is struggling so bad and stressed enough to crack under pressure. I myself am the most hotheaded person I know with a really bad temper under stress. I just got into an altercation with a police officer last week, yelling, cursing at him under stress because of my own temper and this jacked up society. I highly respect the police, but I still lost it and I fear it could be worse if I'm in a situation Trevor was in. If we see this tragic story for what it really is and not butter it up, then we can learn from it including myself because this has really made me stop and think about how to behave in stressful times. I don't want to end up being Trevor or the guy with the hammer. We have got to be level headed in these times cuz so many people are hurting. It's awful, sad, tragic and maddening but it's real and in our face daily... we have to learn from it.

This guy DIED and you are on your pedestal talking about all the "horrible" people that join the military. If it weren't for those young men and women "looking for a way out" you wouldn't be able to sit at your computer and type that nonsense. It has no place on this thread as it is in no way related to this article or this tragic event that occurred. Gotta love liberals. Some man was attacked as he was doing his job, most likely the last house of the day before he got to go home, and here people are saying that this guy somehow deserved it?!?! I understand your point about living in a dangerous society, and, therefore, having to mind what you say to certain people. However, this article does not warrant attacks on our military or this poor young man who lost his life too early.
