I have been one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 31.5 years and an ex-Jehovah's Witness for 2.5 years. I have found that a lot of people have family members or friends are curious about JWs or confused about how to reach them.

I now live in Hershey, PA. Please feel free to ask me anything you have wanted to know about JWs, or how to help people escape them.

How can we reach other Jehovah's Witnesses who are victims of the false teachings of the elders and the WatchTower? I know some of them who want to be delivered but are too fearful to take that step. How can we help?

The shunning doctrine of JWs is an extremely effective tool of coercion. If you know someone who wants to get out, it is likely they feel trapped by fear of losing friends and/or family.

My parents, aunts, uncles, most of my cousins, and two of my siblings choose not speak to me. If the JWs you know are afraid of leaving, it is very likely that they are worried about getting a similar reaction from their own families and friends.

The best way you can help is by being supportive of them. Unconditional friendship and love is something JWs are unfamiliar with, and it can be a very powerful force for helping them have strength to leave.

I was raised a JW and "left" over 10 years ago. The most difficult thing is realizing that if your family is devout, you will not have a relationship with them. They simply replace you with those in the congregation that are "faithful" and focus on them rather than their own blood. It is not an easy thing to deal with but I am finally resolving myself to move on and live my own life to the fullest and enjoy the loyal friends I have made over the years.

I am an ex jw, I was raised as one. I began reading the bible King James version and I began to notice that the jw bible was changed. The changes were to fit the belief that jesus was not God. I bought many bibles and all of them claimed jesus as God except for the jw bible.

Exodus 3:12-15 they changed the wording to I was. read both the king james ,new american standard, new international ect.... all bibles say the same thing God claims his name to be "I AM" jw changed it to I was. It's important because God said that all genarations would recognize him by his name which is I AM, when the jews confronted him he told them he was "I AM" thats why they tried to stone him!!!!!! John 8:58 is where you could find this information.

i dont agree with you guys. i left because it was too strict but they can teach you a bible study with other religious bibles and still come to the same conculsion. every teaching from jehovah's witnesses are factual and not made up. not one teaching is flaw they all match up to their literature. everything is common sense. For Example 95% of religions say Jesus was born in Dec. 25th and died at 33 1/2 years old. well if you count back 33 1/2 yrs yuu come up with October.

Ex JW. They are not scripturally right on more than a few things. They are right on some in my opinion. However, the annointed in their congregations, and society, is kind of like being a rock star. At the memorial you see them partake of the bread and wine, those who are of the annointed. Those that don't go, " Oh he's one of the annointed he's special. god as chosen him to be a judge over the earth." Many of them are married, and have children, however, if you'll notice in Revelations 14:1-5 and particularly in verse 4 you'll notice it states, " These are the ones not defiled with women, for they have kept there virginity." So if a member of the 144,000 has sex he can no longer be a member of that elite group, because he has defiled himself and lost his virginity. Nuff said.

My boyfriend, age 52, was a JW since age 14 and as an Elder left about 2 years ago, before I knew him. He is a mess! It has taken me 14 months of knowing him to understand that it is all related to his JW affiliation.
He was shunned by his family the day before we were ready to start our life together in another State. We tried but he shut down and ended up having to go back to his area. He really wants to go forward and will not go back to JW,however his fears and super low self esteem wont let him. It seems he is only safe to stay close to his parents even though they will not associate with him.
We stay in constant contact and I help and emotionally support him but I am running low on support for myself. Can you help?

I dont know if this discussion is still active, but if anybody has any scriptural evidence to refute any of the many different beliefs held by jw i would greatly appreciate some direction bec scripture is the one thing im constantly asked for and i can find some but the help of former jw would be amazing. If you could send it to threenailsstrong@hotmail.com i would greatly appreciate it.

It does say I am not I was. I have the JW bible in front of me.
And John 8:58 says: Jesus said to them:"Most truly I say to you, Before Abraham came into existence, I have been. Get It right if you are going to bad mouth someone.

What does that prove?
Adam was before abraham also.

You really should get your facts straight before you try to slander someone.
Are you sure you were a JW.

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Scorpio

You need a little light relief at the moment and one of the best ways to find it today is to get together with someone who always makes you laugh. You might even want to tell them what's going on in your life at the moment so you can get their perspective on it. This will help to keep your feet on the ground and then you won't feel quite so miserable or beset by problems.
