Seriously!?!? Some of you people should be ashamed of yourselves and your stupid comments! WHO CARES why he was riding his bike and not driving a car! WHO CARES what your opinion is! The police said the driver of the car crossed the DOUBLE yellow line! When I learned to drive double yellow line meant you couldn't cross over for any reason pot hole, bear, or flying unicorn! Whos to say he wouldn't be in the same situation even if he WAS in a car thats insured and all that other BS! Saying anyone deserves something like that is like me saying to you that I hope something terrible happened to you or your family! Moral of this story is: PAY ATTENTION WHEN DRIVING!!! No amount of reflective material or clothing or even a light would prevent such a tragic accident when a driver doesn't pay attention! As far as the driver...who cares what his name is?! Caucasians kill people too! I think he is suffering enough just having to live with the fact that he hit someone! This poor boys family could read your stupid comments! How do you think they would feel....I guess it doesn't matter because I assume people like you have no soul! He's a kid....18 or not he is someones CHILD! How would you like someone to tell you they hope your kid gets hit by a bus! Accidents happen and its not always someones fault! That's why they are called accidents! My mom always told me..."if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all." Some of you should remember that...I do believe thats something you learn in kindergarten! So so sad! To the friends and family of this boy, I am so sorry to hear about this and sorry for all of these ignorant, self righteous, know-it-all a**holes as well! I surely hope none of you ever experience something like this! Prayers for Keith and his family and also to Mr. Sandoe as I'm sure he is hurting as well! And just so you know....Sandoe isn't a hispanic last name always! So bite your tongue!

I hope that the boy is doing well and makes a quick recovery. No matter what the situation i wouldn't wish that kind of thing on anyone.

Now for the cycling comment. Bicycles ahve every right to be on the road as any other vehicle. It is true some cyclists treat that right very rudely, but no worse than your average motor vehicle. I ride to and from work and on my days off to save on gas. I have reflectors, both front and rear lights, properly signal for turns, stop at every stop sign and red light, and keep to the side of the road as much as humanly possible without running off it. However inspite of all my attempts to share the road i have people yell at me, try to scare me and make me crash, curse at me for being on the road. The truth is very few people know how to treat one another when it comes to this. I would liek to think people can change but the truth is it wont unless we force a change. Causing people to insure bikes is not the answer. What is the answer would be to enforce laws concerning bike safety and making harsher laws and punishments for it. Not just for the cyclists but the other people on the road as well. PA can be a bike friendly state but only if we take the time to be.

Neither would anyone over the age of 10 with any sense!Never got a response to why he was riding a bicycle. DUI?
He was riding a bike because he walked a friend home... and to everyone, he wasn't in the middle, he was on the opposite side as the car.

Hey bike rider just in case you didn't know Harleys have lights, insurance, and can drive more than 20 mph. I also love how this guy may not live and all you care about is bicycle rights

Mr. Sandoe also appears to be a stand-up kind of guy. Sounds like he took some responsibility right away by even admitting that he drifted. And he stopped. And he administered aid & comfort while he called 911. These are not "guesses," these are things I know.

1 - He has never had his license -he's in high school and didn't need it
2 - He was at a church youth group meeting and a friend didn't have a ride home. Instead of letting her go by herself he went with her.
3 - He was in the opposite lane so that when he saw a car coming, he could move off the side and be at least 5 feet away.
4 - Mr. Sandoe admits to drifting across the yellow line

As several have pointed out, he (nor his family) needs a supportive community, not hate-filled rants.

I can not believe some of you people! You do not know Keith and what an amazing man he is! He did not deserve this! This happened 30 seconds after he left my house from walking me home from church! He is my best friend and was making sure I got home safe! And FYI you CAN see the lines on the road at night! I know the driver feels terrible, and I honestly can not believe some of you are being so insensitive! He is fighting for his life and you're arguing over reflectors!? REALLY!?!?

I can't believe what some of you are saying!!! From what I hear about the accident, the driver crossed the center lane!!!!! That is illegal!!!! If he didn't cross the lane, Keith wouldn't have gotten hit!!!!!

So you all know he was doing a good deed and walking a girl home so she did not have to walk alone.
