The United States is a nation of immigrants. Throughout our history, legal immigrants have brought energy, ideas, strength, and diversity to our country, our economy, and our culture. This must continue. But in the post-9/11 world, immigration is more of a national security issue. A government that cannot secure its borders and determine who may enter and who may not, abrogates a fundamental responsibility. I am committed to:

Securing our borders and enforcing immigration laws. Amnesty is not an option and the toleration of “sanctuary cities” must end.
Reviewing our immigration laws and policies to ensure they advance our national interests.
Uniting Americans by welcoming legal immigrants willing to learn English, assimilate into our communities, and become productive citizens.

Like we've never heard a politician say what we want to hear. Please, the man is a joke as a candidate and only a fool would vote for him. Looking at the last few elections, I guess he might have a chance. What a sad statement on America.

Mr. Fred Thompson;
I believe the true measure of a man’s day is not what he did for himself but what he did for his fellow man. On 09/11/01 I was to deliver to your office at the Capital a hand-written letter pleading with you to run for President in ’04. I had not and still have not ever actually voted. I will this time I promise!
On 09/09/01 we arrived at our hotel at Virginia Beach. It was teeming with life. My wife and I had never had a vacation together. We were to meet my Aunt Bonnie, Monday, at the Pentagon, have lunch and then deliver the letter to your office, not expecting to meet you, but I was hoping to. Sunday night after eating and enjoying the exercises of the F-14s and F16s I called and left a message to my Aunt saying,“we’re having too much fun here. I’ll get with you later to send the letter.” At the time she was the director of child and family services for the military. Her office was at the Pentagon.
In hindsight, I’m glad we didn’t meet that morning because that plane would have mowed us all down. What about the heroes that took that plane down over Pennsylvania? Why do people forget about them?
That Monday morning Rena woke me up saying “honey look!” It was Matt and Katie, in what seemed to be a very controlled state of chaos. We were all watching the north tower burning. The second one I saw coming in and I said,“honey, there’s another one coming heavy and that’s no private plane”. We will never forget. We watched the entire Atlantic fleet go out. Two carrier groups went north and one went south. The sound of the fighter squadrons meeting the ships was deafening. Then I was reminded of your line in the movie “THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER”; “this shit is gonna get out of hand” Well sir, frankly, it has.
I never sent the letter because we all felt that we had to rally as a nation and around our President. And we did. What now? Remember that line in the movie. It means more to me now than it ever has, and I’m not the only one. I have all of Knoxville with me. We need you Sir and now more than before. I feel it’s my duty to try to help. We are losing “ America “.
Please run Fred, Sir. If you are at all “on the fence” know this; we love you and we need you. I wish I could meet with you to discuss so much more about all this. This plea is very unlike me but “it”, this country of ours, matters to us. I have never felt so strongly about anything other than God in all of my life.
Thank you sir for your time and attention. I look forward to hearing from you to see if and how I can help.
Sincerely,
P.Andy Parker (R,TN)

Maybe the most gay letter I've read in years, he's a republican fool. he has to pretend to hate gays.

Former Senator Fred Thompson is the only candidate that gets it. He makes decisions based on principles. Principles don’t change. You have to stand for something and not change who you are based on the polls. That is what Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani have done and all of the Democrats do it. Give me a leader that will stand by his principles anyday versus someone that stands for everything.

I know many, many Republicans that will stay home if Rudy Giuliani is the candidate. He does not represent our values as conservatives, and never will. Millionaire Mitt Romney is a Republican-in-name-only (RINO) that simply has everything else and nothing to do.“I guess I’ll just try to buy the presidency”. THE WHITE HOUSE IS NOT FOR SALE!! Conservatives will simply stay home...the Democrats will pick up additional seats in the House and probably get the 60 seats in the Senate they need to completely destroy our country. Nice picture huh?

However, I think Fred Thompson can bring America back together, if that’s even possible. America needs a rebirth of patriotism and honor. Republicans also need a rebirth. President Reagan was our last rebirth and he can never be duplicated. Fred will bring his own down- to-earth common sense to this country and strength back to our party. A little of the good old days of faith, federalism and family would do well for this country. If a conservative runs as a conservative, he will win!

Think of it this way: Eight more years of another Clinton White House? Now, if that’s not a sufficient enough reason to pull together as a party, as a country, and fight this liberal takeover of our government, what is?!

Friends, we are in for the fight of our lives, just as our young men & women are fighting for our freedoms in Iraq and Afghanistan, we must fight for our country right here and now! I truly believe Fred Thompson is the one man who can pull this nation back together! Rudy Giuliani, like Hillary Clinton, will just tear us apart! Putting lipstick on a pig doesn’t change it...

Dear Fred,
I want to share my opinions with you, because I'd like you to win. You need to know how we feel. First of all, I think this country needs to totally revamp it's priorities. I live in Hamilton County in TN, and until recently, we had working farms in our county. Now, we have only 1. Our Farmers need to farm. They should even receive government assistance to start back if needed. They need to grow corn and anything else that can be changed into alcohol to power our vehicles. We desperately need to curtail our depenence on foreign oil. We need to become independent again. Business owners should not be outsourcing jobs. We can and need to grow our own food and hire Americans to do our work. We need to plow under subdivisions and return to farming. This will create jobs, Government assistance to the farmers would be temporary, because the farmers and their workers will have reasonable incomes. They, not George Bush and his few cronies will get rich from honest healthy--for-all farming for fuel.
I have 2 other opinions I've never heard voiced publicly. On Immigrants-It seems impractical, cruel and just studpid to send all of them home to me. I get it we cannot just let anybody come and stay, that's how terorists get in here. Seems to me that if they have no criminal history, and are willing to work, they should be allowed to stay. All immigrants should be given an immigrant number good for 1 yr. In that time they should persue citizenship. The number will entitle them to be hired, and provide the needed avenue for them to pay taxes. No public assistance can be granted after the first year, unless they establish citizenship and have paid taxes. I see them walking to work, they're the only ones i know of willing to do that. I admire the grit it requires for them to come here for a better life. the details to this are staggering.
On abortion, you hinted at it with what you said-even though I never thought of a woman going to jail for having an abortion-it could happen I guess. Abortion to me is clearly murder, period. but it has always been around, and legal or not it will never go away. If it is legal, our daughters and sisters, neices, mothers, aunts-wont have to pay with their lives or fertility for a bad decision. Reversal of R vs W, would be murder as well.
We need to bring our boys back home from the Middle East. That part of the world has always and will always be at War or on the verge of it. We are there so George and his buddies can get richer, that's all. it's a war as reprehensible as the Viet Nam war for almost the same kinds of reasons. I like the way Ronald Reagan handled things over there, quick efficient and effective.
I think the worst damage done to this country ever was not 9/11, but bestowed by the Patriot act, which is anything but.it needs to be reversed, wee need less government and our freedom back. I voted for bush twice-devil and the deep blue sea. I'm glad some better choices are around this election. Thanks for listening, good luck. Jeannie Bass

i would like to say a very fond hello to fred thompson and thanks for running..... our countries three most important factors to me right now is : 1. secure our borders and kick out ALL of the current illegals. if they want to be here then let them go thru the appropriate channels and get legalized first.. 2.stop the war and let those people fight their own battles- if they actually wanted us there it would be different but they have let us know that they want us gone...3.what about the low life americans that we have that are living off of FOOD STAMPS, AFDC,GOVERNMENT HOUSING AND WELFARE COMMODITIES instead of working for a living....cut them off! Go buy them enough food for 2 mths(they sell their food stamps) and tell them that is it- get a job! there are some that really need it(disabled and elderly) and i'm all for them having it but most of them are just lazy baby making machines who are draining the americans who are trying to actually work for a living and provide for our families. thanks fred! give 'em hell from one LAWRENCE COUNTIAN TO ANOTHER.... Fred,
Would like to know your position and what you are going to do about the Uniformed Service Former Spouse Protection Act (USFSPA) In short Congress passed the bill in 1982 that all military member's retirement pay is considered "marital property" This can be up to as much as 50%! Not to mention they can take part of their disability pay as well! This is not fair to the men and women who have put their lives in harms way for this country. Spending 20+ years of their lives serving the people of this country only to have that squashed by congress. When has a Congress man put their life in harms way? Besides I know I speak for all retirees by saying we'd love to have their retirement benefits! It's an outrage, slap in the face, what ever you want to call it, it's just wrong! Would like to know where you stand for us verterans Fred? By the way here is the website that is fighting this situation.(www.ulsg.org) This should bring you up to speed.
Respectfully,
Lawrence Naumann

Fred Thompson,
The first candidate that promises to make the Treasury and the IRS obey the Constitution will win this election hands down. If you want more details see www.ideas-wanted.com . The IRS is part of the Treasury and both are part of the Executive Branch reporting to the President. The truth is that the IRS runs the biggest scam in the government intimidating people into paying taxes for which they are not liable. The President can simply order IRS compliance with the law and most citizens will immediately have more money in their pockets to pay their own expenses like medical insurance. It does not require an act of Congress !!!!

You know Fred, for a Presidential candidate, you're pretty hard to send an e-mail to! I got nothin' but love for ya sir. You are the only true conservative running. That is not a poor reflection on you. It's a poor reflection on the sad state of the republican party when it seems as though all the front runners (except you) have all forgotten what made them repubs in the first place. My brother has an expression with respect to actors: faces don't lie. You can't make a douchebag seem like a hero (although Tom Cruise does pretty well). As a general rule it stands. As a "Law and Order" fan, you had me when you described what the pro-abortionists want, and the Roe v. Wade decision as what happens when the members of the SCOTUS rewrite the 14th Amendment. You're the only one. However, I (if I may be so bold) have but one piece of advice. Please, PLEASE! be a better public speaker. All this, "uh," "uhm," shit's gotta go. You've got the brains....we know you've got the experience.....and I know you've got the balls to stand up and tell these fuckers where to stick their empty-headed rhetoric. I was so happy to see you slap-down Huckabee in NH. Ron Paul needs to get thumped early before anyone else associates his paranoid fantasies with conservative idealogy. Go for it Fred! Get these whining liberals and half-assers where they breathe. TAKE the White House. It's yours. All it takes is balls. Speak from your heart and attack. Let the chips fall where they may. Don't worry about what CNN or the NY Times say anyway. Tell the truth and crush your opponants with your words, your wit, and your wisdom. Take this country back Fred. I believe in you.
