Tea party rally fights health reform

Full story: The Tennessean

Conservative protesters filled an area around the east side of the Tennessee State Capitol on Saturday afternoon, saying they were putting politicians on notice that they had better shape up or face being voted out of office in 2010.

No, Vann, we are trying to keep the insane idiots in DC out of our heath care. Making sure uninsured Americans have the coverage they need is one thing, this is about the idiots that can't balance a budget trying to run our heath needs. Pelosi and the ilk need to try to get our soldiers what they need, balance the budget, and try to maintain the safety of our country. This is about preserving our Constitution.

Tea party people are right wing nuts! Not 1 in 20 of them even knows what is in the bill. Probably not 1 in 10 finished high school.

Problem is that nuts can become dangerous nuts if their are stirred up enough by lunatics like Limbaugh and Cry-baby Beck.

So I, a college educated professional woman, am a right winged nut. Figures a liberal demorat would make such a asinine comment. I have read the bill, and I do not want the tax burden they are forcing on us. And since you are getting closer to the medicare age than I am, aren't you worried that you won't have adequate health care in a few years? 2015 isn't that far away.

Well, Ms. college educated pro woman, you are likely paying twice what I, as a male, pay in health insurance premiums. Just because you are a woman and are likely to have a baby.... But you still don't want the government to stop this unfair practice. If the government requires the insurance companies to compete for our business, premiums will go down across the board. I don't get a strong feeling that you have researched anything. Do a little research about women paying more, and report back to this forum. Do it now!

My health insurance premiums for a family of 4 are $200.00 a month. And that is for BCBS without a deductible.. I have seen my colleagues premiums go up since the rush to this heath scare nightmare. This bill will kill insurance companies and our heath care system, of which I am a provider, will change dramatically. My patients will be paying more out of pocket than before and they will have to get prior approval from the government for any treatment. So, I believe, this health scare nightmare will hurt physicians, providers and facilities. Kiss your top notch health care goodbye.

jlt67, your premiums are not the norm. Please realize that. We currently have the most expensive health care in the world. This despite only ranking 30th in the quality of health care. Top notch health care? I don't think so! The insurance companies have the public head in a vise and are constantly wrenching it tighter. Maybe you can let us in on your deal of $50.00 premium per individual?

Good lord, JLT, you should get on your knees and thank God for a policy for 200.00 a month. Is that your portion or the total cost? What could it cover for 200.00 a month? Don't you work in a hospital?

I am in a large group and mine is >700.00 a month. National health insurance works in Europe and (despite what Rush and Beck say) works well in Canada. Are we too incompetent to handle it here?

My point was primarlily about the Tea Party people. They are misguided and out of touch with real world issues. They are the same nuts that carried firearms to the rallies in Virginia and Rhode Island. Same people that disrupted the town hall meetings by shouting down the speakers. Same nut jobs that questioned Obama's citizenship, and said there will be death panels to condemn old people to death by denying them health care.

I am speaking for myself, but probably for a lot of other Americans, when I call them NUTS. Honestly, I am sick of their belly acheing and whineing.

Great day to be a lunatic fringe republican

I have only been on my computer for less than an hour and what have I seen so far?
Sarah Palin claiming that Obama killed Jesus.
Rupert Murdock claiming that president Obama and blacks in general are all racists.
Heritage Foundation claiming that minor offenses against women like sexual harassment and rape are over criminalized.
Tea-baggers outside of the school where the first daughters go, carrying sign claiming that they are going to hell.

Yes, a great day to be a lunatic fringe republican.
Not such a great day if you are a normal human being.

And just a side note from yesterday.

Vann, I do not have the insurance from my employer. I don't work for a hospital. I am a provider. My husband's company gives us the insurance at that price. As far as being a nut for being a Republican, I am not. But speak however you wish, I am tired of being belittled for believing in conservative values. And HJF, you can kiss my foot. I don't believe in Obama and the ilk in DC. BTW Happy Veterans Day tomorrow to all of the Veterans.

Everyone agrees that healthcare reform is needed.
However, "health reform" needs to be tethered and changed to something sane like "healthcare repair".

Instead of a 2,000 page complete overhaul, fix the obvious problems such as competition between all insurance agencies in all states, eliminate the pre-existing clauses and have all insurance agencies abide and compete by the same fair rules for all. Once that's in place we can re-evaluate any other changes that may be needed. The current bill is plagued with problems and unknown results.

As proven, government run healthcare can only result in the usual disaster of other government run entities.

Anyone who supports the current bill had better stock up on Kleenex and tranquilizers as "Buyers Remorse" will be your destiny.

All of your comments are true. However, it is not the fault of our system, it is the fault of our mindless actions. There are so many choices to make and not everyone has the intelligence to make them. Choices in the area of diet and lifestyle are to what I am referring.

Just goes to show you what we've known all along -- Republican is just another word that means I can't have it all if you get any. Their sole concern is welfare of the wealthy. Bill Clinton left office with a surplus and that made them mad. George Bush wrecked the economy and they've never acknowledged it. Republicans are all about Red Herrings and bull sh*t. The Party of No knows nothing else. They are just chanting their mantra.

The Tea Party is not about being a Republican or a Demorat, it's about preserving our Country. I say get out all the incumbents that are up for re-election and electing people who will serve the people.
