Does anyone know anything about them or work there? I've heard a few things about them. Some good, some bad. Heard they might be hiring later this year and would like to get some opinions on this place

No hiring at all. In fact, the way things are, it wouldn't suprise me if it closed down in a few months. Used to be a decent place to work. Not no more. Been there for well over 20 years and this is the worst I've seen it.

Is it because of the auto industry in general or are there other things going on?

Both, but more because of the people who attempt to run the place. There's people in jobs that they have no business being in. Because of this, we lost Toyota, BMW, and Ford and came very close to losing Nissan. Oh, we did get VW business but that was only because a sister plant had closed down and we were the only plant that had the room to put the business(because we lost so much)and we'll only have that business for another few months. Nothing new is coming in as far as anyone knows.

I just saw this board and have to put in my say. Ben is right on the money. Even the plant manager said in the monthly communication said the reason we don't have anything coming in is that corporate doesn't think we have any room for new business. What's funny is that because of this, we now have our junk and all stored at another site. Hmmm-out of sight out of mind. The way things are, we keep screwing up and sending people home early in the week because we have no parts or compound for shipments, we'll lose more work. Then we'll have plenty of floorspace for new business. Way to go guys. LOL

What does everyone expect when the place is run by a bunch of idiots, floozies, and drunks. Add convicted felons to that list now too.

Floozies? LOL. It's very well known that certain people had to do a little hanky panky to be where they're at, but most everyone would be surprised at who had to be intimate with certain people to get to where they're at today. Very surprised.

Stay away from here. They haven't given a raise in years, they're raising our helth insurance, lowering our coverage. Like the guy said above, they have idiots, drunks, convicted felons, and people who had to spread their legs to get promoted trying to run the place. I give this place a year before it shuts downs.

Try this year. Rumor is we'll have a week off at thanksgiving and the whole month of December off. They canceled the dinner awarding us the lost time off achievement and the shirts that go with it. They canceled all overtime, including 10 hours and Saturdays.

They've laid off the maintenance guy on third that had been on medical leave, the machinist on first shift, gotten rid of the supervisor turned production worker on second and put the dimwit that was in the lab back in production. Okay management, you've gotten rid of those people, now how about some of the people in the offices? Are you going to get rid of them or at least put them in production? Or are they going to stay where they're at because of the special favors some of them give you all.

Now why in the hell would management want to put certain office people in production when they do their best work under the desk?

The only things that are going to be running for the rest of the month ate Nissan and 900. After that, who knows. The end is near, they just don't want to admit it.

I used to work at GDX. I still have family that works there. What you all have said is why I'm glad I'm out of that place. It used to be a decent place to work, but since about 4 years ago, it started going downhill. You all mentioned people who are supervisors who have no business being supervisors. That is so true. Between the washed up alcoholics to the criminals to the ones who had to whore themselves to be supervisors(or other office people) there are the ones who can't or won't pay their bills. There is the so called engineer who just had his wages garnished. Even when he got a raise. If people can't be responsible for their bills, how can they be responsible to be an engineer? Think about that, management. Get past yourselves and make some changes if you all want to keep that place open

The ax has started to fall. They permanantly laid off 5 people(1 engineer, 3 in maintenance, 1 in macine shop) and several people who lost their office jobs and got put in production jobs. They also lost their pay. This is just the beginning.

and more have gone bye bye. 74 people got walked out on second and third shifts. On top of those 5 people who were "permanently laid off". Some of the people who got bumped down got what they deserved, now for the drunks and floozies to get their turn.

Anything happen since March 1? Looking at google maps, it's hard to believe there's 74 people in the town. Does the facoty just make the moldings for cars?

I have never worked a this place, but I have lived here all my life and I know some of the people who have worked there. It's amazing that the place has lasted this long. They can turn the place into a bar. That way the business can get back the money paid out in wages.

They've already started taking some of the money paid out in wages. Now all employees that are on temporary layoff have to pay their part of their health insurance for the time they're laid off. But now the management can feel the pain. Since May, all salaried people have to take 5 weeks off without pay from May to July. They have gotten rid of a few people that they needed to but still have a long way to go to get rid of the deadweight management. They can't pay their bills. They've been put on credit hold or COD at one time or another with all their suppliers. Most departments are shut down until late July at the earliest. They're were behind on their lease last we heard. People are double checking with the bank to make sure their paychecks will clear. I give the place until sometime in the fall to close up shop. Oh, as for the above comment about turning the place into a bar...not a bad idea. We've got the drunks already, now we need the rest.

Rumors flying about permantently laying off everyone who has less than 12 years seniority as well as making the place a 2 shift operation with first and second shifts running and not having a third shift. Just as well. The facilitator and set up guy doesn't do anything. They just sit in the office most of the time and make excuses on why they don't do their jobs. And the people in production see that and they don't do anything. Want to get rid of some deadweight? Get rid of these people and third shift altogether. There's people on third shift that can go to another shift if they wanted to but don't because they say then they'd have to actually work.
