The cops in Nevada are overworked and understaffed as it is, now the legiscritters want them to be on the lookout for seatbelt violators? In Vegas, traffic law enforcement is a joke. It is not uncommon to see 4, 5 or even 6 vehicles make a turn after their light has turned RED. Its time to start enforcing the laws we already have before new ones are enacted.

Crap! Your full of it. The cops in Nevada are out of control, abusive and anal intensive. They in fact abuse their power and authority every day. If they spent more time on real crime, instead of harrassing the motorist, then maybe traffic problems can be solved without violating peoples rights. Cops in Nevada spend way too much time on creating motorist traps, establishing distrust, and abuse. Further, if you watch them, they are the primary violator of traffic rules themselves. They are the ones speeding, failing to stop at red lights, using sirens to make turns instaed of waiting for a light exchange and on and on and on. We have seen police abuse after police abuse yet they intentailly attack motorist. Its no wonder that drivers don't give a dam. The cops are supposed to lead by example and right now they suck and don't deserve any support in anthing they do. Screw them and what they represent. Nevada is a "police Terrorist State".. Its their record of oppression. abuse and shootings that has created these facts. Enforcing laws they fail to respect as police fails the taxpayers and motorist. This is war and it is suggested that everyone fight back. Get a lawyer ans sue. Gather evidence against them. Campaign for re-form. Remember, these terrorist hiding behind the badge serve only themselves. Get your facts streight. Nevada cops are not over worked since they like to sit in the shade of back alleys sleeping, drinking beer and hiding behind street block walls waiting to pounce on everyday citizens. NO, Nevada cops cannot be trusted and need to be re-engineered.

Geeez...For someone posting from MI (Michigan?) you sure seem to know alot about Nevada cops. I can't help but get the feeling you might have been pulled over for something you feel you didn't deserve. If that's the case, all states are in the wrong cause it's pretty much the same everywhere. My beef is that I don't need the Government to save my life and I don't like the fact that another right is being taken away.

Wearing seat belts should be a choice for the owner of the car. Police should have no right to fine you just becouse you forgot. i would never pay that fine i would go to jail before i pay it. it is bullshit that cops got all this power and the just abuse it with every chance they have. the only reason they started doing this shit is to put more money in there pockets. Not wearing seat belts only efects the people in the car not them not any one else. if i got hurt not wearing my seat belts i would probly say well that sucked next time i will wear it till then i not wearing it! FUCK THE POLICE

I agree that metro is spread a little thin, thats why you rarely see anyone pulled over. I had a motorcycle cop radar me going about 60 in a 45 zone on Sunset across from the airport and he still did not stop me. I'm not sure what the hell he was waiting for but I guess I was not going fast enough to warrant a ticket. I'm not complaining about that, but Im just pointing out that you have to be doing something really stupid to get pulled over by metro. I highly doubt they are going to stop anyone for a simple seatbelt infraction. Henderson PD, maybe...

My pet peeve with Metro is the disregard of school zones by Metro.I travel nearly every day through three zones, and alsmost every week I see a patrol car bust through the zone.Several times I followed the patrol car to see if it was on a call. No,one was cruising, the other stopped for lunch at the Sun Coast. If Metro doesn't respect the laws, why should citizens?

The police have the right and responsibility to protect the citizens. I think it is important for las-breaking citizens to be punished for their crimes. It is about time the cops step up and take a stand. How many lives need to be lost before people start to realize the danger in stupid actions.

I LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA & FREQUENTLY COME TO SOUTH CAROLINA BECAUSE MY WIFE IS A NURSE WITH A TEMP JOB IN S.C. I STILL HAVE MY VALID PENNA. LIC & INS CARDS & CAR IS LEGALLY INSPECTED. THE OTHER DAY I WAS PULLED OVER & I ASKED THE COP WHY DID YOU PULL ME OVER. SHE SAID IT IS NOT BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU DID IT IS BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU DID NOT DO. I SAID WHAT IS THAT? SHE SAID I'VE NOTICED YOU HAVE BEEN STAYING IN SC FOR OVER 45 DAYS & YOU STILL HAVE A PA PLATE & LICENSE & YOU HAVE NOT SWITCHED IT OVER. SHE SAID I SAW YOU COME OUT OF THAT HOUSE & GET INTO YOUR CAR & COME OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY & GO PAST ME WITH THESE PENNA. PLATES. I WANT TO KNOW IS THIS A REASON SHE CAN PULL ME OVER?? OR IS THIS AN ILLEGAL STOPPING & SHE IS HARRASSING ME!

Sound like a bunch of teenager. Parent: Make your bed son. Teenage son: Suck my balls, I do what I want. I hate people that smoke while driving, that talk on the phone while driving, that lack the use of a seatbelt, and put on makeup or pamper themselves. But the worst is a cell phone talking, seatbelt lacking, smoker that put on lipstick at a light. How the hell does that person have time to hold to steering wheel or pay attention to the road!?

I completely agree with Joshua. I think there should be a choice for the owner of the car to either wear it or not to wear it. Completely agree. Unfortunately the entire automobile industry obviously thinks seatbelts are a good idea because they keep installing them. They must have some use or benefit like, oh lets just say, saving lives. I bet I can one up Joshua too and take it to the extreme just to prove his pointless point of being right. I’ll show all of them and remove that other life saving device someone thought might be a good idea known as the airbag. Go lobby that to Congress, I want an optional on/off switch inside just in case, I feel like piling it up today and killing myself. Okay that was extreme sorry. Just a quick digression for a history lesson. The police only enforce the laws, which the legislators or legislative branch have enacted into law but we won’t go there because a history lesson in government and how it works, call it civics or history, was obviously not offered at the schools Joshua went too. Either that or we missed that day or were not in school at all. And the power doesn’t come from the Police but rather the executive branch of government but since we were absent that day in school we will have to move on! Things that make you go hum. But when you operate in an “I’ll show you mentality” whatever floats your boat. I admire a person of principle. Strictly speaking from a historical point of view, last individual who walked the earth who was always right was crucified, just FYI. When you start believing in your own opinion and are not receptive to new ideas well….Communism comes to mind (Oh yea and marriage LOL). Be careful in taking the stance of always being right and not open to ideas. Okay wait, let’s not stop there. As long as we are in the “I’ll show you mentality” let us do away with mandating motorcycle riders wear helmets. Again, something that has been proven over time to save lives. So out with motorcycle helmets. I’m not done yet, let’s go one step further and lets talk about our children. What about the children who do not know any better and the parents who get to make that choice for them. Well kiddo today is your lucky day, since I am antipolice, or whatever you call the response authored, you don’t have to wear your seatbelt and in the world I operate in, I am going to risk your life to prove my point that the POLICE are not going to tell me what to do. Makes about as much sense as putting a newborn in the car without a car seat. Oh but wait it should be every adult’s choice over the age of 18 whether or not to wear their seatbelts. Point proven, you got me, convinced me of your well-articulated argument. Not to mention that the legislators, you know those folks you VOTE for, have removed the discretion from law enforcement officer by stating that when an officer observes someone not wearing their seatbelt they will write a citation but your right the police should overlook this and compromise their integrity for your ignorance. One final point, the Nevada Revised Statutes are posted online, I read it and I am pretty sure it says that a seatbelt is a secondary traffic violation, which means that the police cannot use the fact that you are not wearing your seatbelt as the only justification for pulling someone over. Have a nice day!
