Is the Sabine County Sherrif's Department Crooked

i think they are how long can you keep someone in jail that has 4 or 5 times asked for a lawyer and not yet got one. or told anything. striped down and put in drunk cell Mmmmmmmmmm we will see

a criminal defendant has a right to an attorney anyone has a right to a attorney. how can they hold someone who has ask for one over and over and not giving one. it is found in the sixth amendment..... to the U.S Constitution, it requires the assistance of counsel.also the eighth amendment to the U.S Constitution they have the right to be free of"cruel and unusual" punishment while in jail or prison. well i have someone in there now that they are doing very wrong it is not right. sorry to voice this on here but people need to know what they are doing there..

It seems to me that the law enforcement in sabine county can do anything it likes to the inmates and get away with it, from hurting people and taking them to the hospital and then taking the inmates money off commisary for the hospital and doctors visit and then sending the rest of the bill to their home for payment. I thought that when a person was incarcerated that the state and our tax money foots the bill? Am I wrong? There have been several instances where the sheriffs department have come under questioning by the public. They have a few deputies that try to do bodily harm if not trying to out right kill a person. Shooting at suspects cars with the suspect in the car, T-boning the car with the suspect in the car all the while with there cameras rolling and then try to justify the incident with "he tried to flee". When the camera shows that the person leaned over when he saw the guns pointed at him, and the car rolled very slowly. It was an outright ambush if you ask me, and they thought they could kill the guy and nothing would ever be said or done. However, I think the whole county needs to be investigated from the Judge giving false information to the jurors and looking up at the ceiling during legal proceedings, to the DA letting other politicians run his office and courts to the Sheriffs department deputys running rampid throughtout the county just daring someone to look at them wrong. I am old but I've seen alot since I've retired and moved up here to Sabine county in the past few years and I don't like what I see. They say they are cleaning up the county but I see it as vigilanties.

If all this is going on how can they get away with this kind of behavior? Is there no govering body overseeing the proceddings in Sabine county?

If they're not under investigation by the state, then that should happen immediately. Internal affairs in small town police stations is never going to do anything helpful for the community, if they do anything at all.

thank you all i thought i was losing my mind or something. when i ask two days ago about him getting a lawyer i was told that when he goes to court he whould get one a little late i think i ask when this would happen he told me a week and ahalf or two weeks.i've never been in trouble with the law but i never thought they would be like they are boy was i so very wrong. again thank you

In 1992 after returning to Pineland from overseas duty I had an argument with the lady who ran the customer service desk at the place where you paid your water bill.

I had paid the bill previously and they did not take the prior payment off the bill. I went there in person and explained to her their mistake.

I was told "I do not make mistakes, you have not paid this bill." So I showed her the cancelled check, and told her I wanted to speak to her supervisor. She told me "You better get your ass out of here, or you are going to wish you had paid this bill again". I told her to KMA, and that I would contact the magistrate. She told me "DO YOU KNOW WHO MY BROTHER ID?! GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!" So I told her I could care less who her brother was and I called her a bitch.

I got into my car and left, and drove about 5 blocks to a buddies house to use his phone, and call the magistrate. Within 5 minutes the Pineland Police Chief (her brother) was there. He drew his weapon on me, handcuffed me, and took me to the Sabine County Jail.

In the time it took me to be transported to the SCJ he had already contacted the Sabine Magistrate. The magistrate had set a fine, and a sentence.

When I entered the SCJ I was told I had a choice: 1. pay 271.00 Fine for disorderly conduct, 2. Do 10 days in the SCJ.

When I asked for a phone call and an attorney, I was told "Son, their isn't going to be any attorney, and the only phone call you are going to make is for someone to bring you some money".

I saw how crooked SCJ and the Sheriffs office was in less than a 2 hour period. So I paid the money, funny when I do an NCIC there is NOTHING about an arrest on my record in Pineland, or an ajudication.

I guess they had a party that weekend out at Conway's old place..

My husband is in Sabine County waiting to see a judge on a revocation of probation. He has been in there over a month and they still haven't turned in his paperwork. I noticed alot of the inmates had special treatment yet my husband was being treated as if he was a murder. The officers there especially don't like me because I don't bow down and kiss their a**es. Something needs to be done about that place.

Yes They Are Because I have A brother there and he was beaten by two police officers, They tied him to a chair and beat him. Now you tell me if thats crooked. I think it is! And they know who they are, but they will never guess me.

And they stay in Hemphill Texas.

Well im from hemphill and was born in hemphill live for a very long time just move to chicago in thelast 5 year are so they will do to you and your people any and every thing they want to im 53 and have seen all as well kkk there so go and see your people everytime you get a chance the whole towm is very bad the have killed two men in the jail since i have beet living i am from Mayfield go to houston and get you a lawyer if possible they are just like those people over there in jenning la

For one thing, the lady you are talking about does not have a brother that is the Pineland Police Chief. I know her personally. You may have been treated unfairly. I don't know. I wasn't there. However, I can't see her acting in that manner.

To start all I can say is I love how people twist their stories to make themselves look good in a situation, and how they make it as if they were in the right and every other single person is wrong. Now my first question would be how do you know these things are going on in Sabine County? Have you seen them with your own eyes, and do you have substantial proof? Or did you hear someone say how they dislike some of the Officers/Deputies in Sabine County and took it upon yourself to try and stir the pot to vent your pinned up frustration. Gossip is such an issue in Sabine County and by the time a story gets from one person to the 100th person it has totally changed and all of a sudden it becomes much worse than what the original story was in the beginning.

Yes I'm just getting started....in response to "a mother and a wife" who states that "alot of the inmates had special treatment", yes some do...have you ever heard of the word trustee? These are the inmates that have proven they can be trusted outside of a cell and do work for the department. It is a "benefit" of good behavior. After the inmates are there so long, they eventually earn that trust and if they screw up it's back to "cell life". If you open your eyes you will see that this is normal operation at any prison/jail weather it is "local" or even "state". I have witnessed it with my own eyes. Do you honestly know what your husband has done and said the entire time he was incarcerated? Can you prove his unfair treatment? I would guess not. The kind of posts that are on this form and the people making them are what give small towns in Texas a bad name. If there are so many problems with the system why haven't you attempted to do anything about it? Why let it go on? If you were truly upset as you are stating, then something should have already been initiated to resolve the issue. At least that's how I would handle it if I were in this type of situation. If you say you don't bow down and kiss their a$$ then why haven't you looked further into the situation and gathered proof? Is it possible that you have no chance of getting any proof because of false accusations, or is it that you are just upset and think to yourself why not just slander the local authorities and hope other people get on your side? It really makes no sense to me. Especially when people who commit crimes always want to blame the law enforcement, when they are the ones who committed the crime in the first place. That person is the one who has screwed up and wants to place blame on everyone but themselves.

Next I am going to comment on Recon Marine's post. A very interesting one at that. When I read it I noticed that the angrier he gets, the more his story became exaggerated. First off, I have dealt with many of the city employees in Pineland in the past and I have been in the office there on numerous occasions and have NEVER once seen any type of disrespect towards the citizens. Now your statement of "the Pineland Police Chief (her brother)"...I know for a fact this is an incorrect statement. Because none of the workers that take the utility bills have a brother that is the Police Chief. Your information is wrong here. Do you see the pattern I was describing earlier? Your facts are incorrect, so this would put your story into the "BS" category. If you were arrested for disorderly conduct, obviously you were disturbing the peace. If you look at the definition of disorderly conduct you will see that it means "Unlawful interruption of the peace, quiet, or order of a community, including offenses called disturbing the peace, vagrancy, loitering, unlawful assembly, and riot". So are you trying to say that you went in quietly and politely and asked what the problem was on your account? Did you proceed to ask to see a manager in a calm manner? From your post, I would find that hard to believe. Because if you remember you did say that you told her to kiss your a$$. Hence, that type of behavior would seem to me as you were disturbing the peace and not quiet and calm. Once again this goes back to the point I made about how people who are in the wrong do not admit of their mistakes and want to blame everyone else who they may have had contact with during the situation.

Do you all not see a pattern here? It's clear that from the things I have read here, it is not Sabine County with a problem, it's the people who want to make "something out of nothing" that are causing the problems and wanting others to follow in their footsteps so they can have a taste of the "power" they wished they had. Honestly, like I said before, if you feel there are all the "horrible things" happening, why not do what you can to have something done about it. Talking on here is only your side of the story, and as it has always been said "There are 2 sides to every story", so why should we believe yours? I know it may sound as if I am coming off harsh or defending someone, but you would be wrong. I have been in this county for the majority of my life and it really despises me when I see people who only want to complain, complain, complain and never take action. What good does that do? If you all would put more thought into how to get something done instead of "how can I can make them all look bad?", then maybe you would have some progress and wouldn't have to rant and rave and come up with stories/gossip.
