Can anyone tell me why the City Council does not make John Petty do something with that piece of crap, half built house on Acacia and why he does not have to meet WQMD requirements for water run off at his half built tract of homes at Lake and Florida? Does he own them or what?

Because they're all in his pocket!!! Every last council member has a direct link to John Petty and they will not act unless they have his express authorization to do so. Many of the decisions that are made by the council directly benefit a small group of people in this community. Petty profits from the council and "their" decisions.
Just wait, Petty already has plans to replace Robin Lowe and Eric McBride with newer, fresher cronies. The campaign signs will be just like Franchville and Youssef's (two candidates on one sign) because Petty know it is an effective election tactic. |

Who is this John Petty clown? Thay house on Acacia with the black paper on it?
i have heard John Petty holds the paper on some city council members homes. Anyone have any facts on that? Didn't he get in some kind of trouble in the last election stealing some signs?

Petty is a member of the County Planning Commission. He has dirty dealing with the City and has held various contracts with them. Just Google "City of Hemet, John Petty" and see how involved he is with his fellow crooks.

Take a look at the "Hemet/San Jacinto Action Group". They claim to be committed to making the Valley a nicer, more up-scale place. Yet, it has turned into a dump. Check the member names...A list of who's who of crooked community leaders and business people in the Valley. http://208.43.225.35/resources |

I found this. My question is why do the polititcans get him involved in their campaign? I mean he helped all of them get elected. Does anyone else wonder what's going on? He helkped Jerry Franchville, Robert Youseff, Robin Lowe, half the school board, the water board, valley wide board...where does it end?
Hemet councilwoman, former supporter squabble over campaign signs 10:00 PM PDT on Friday, October 24, 2008 By HERBERT ATIENZA The Press-Enterprise HEMET - Councilwoman Lori VanArsdale has filed a complaint with the Hemet Police Department alleging that developer John Petty, a former supporter, has refused to return campaign signs that she had stored in Petty's warehouse. VanArsdale, who is running for re-election Nov. 4, said Petty's refusal to return her signs has forced her campaign to spend more on new signs. She is demanding that the signs be returned or she be compensated for them. "He's too sneaky," said Van- Arsdale, who said new signs for other candidates have been placed over her signs and are now displayed all over the city. Hemet City Councilwoman Lori VanArsdale provided this photo, saying a sign posted on Stetson Avenue in Hemet shows her sign beneath that of another candidate. Petty said he has done nothing wrong and said VanArsdale was just taking out her frustrations on him. "Those are not her signs," he said. "I'm sorry her campaign is not doing well." VanArsdale, who began her term in 1992, said she kept up to 35 campaign signs, which she said cost between $30 to $50 each, from the previous election in Petty's warehouse on Buena Vista Street and Oakland Avenue. She said she asked Petty earlier this year whether he still had the signs. She said Petty told her there was no way to tell which signs belong to VanArsdale. On Friday, Petty said VanArsdale does not own any sign that is in his warehouse. He said VanArsdale paid for posters that were mounted on plywood that he owned. "The plywood is mine," he said. "Nothing is hers. She has paid to put posters on my plywood. There is no way for her to prove that any of that plywood is hers." |

Skeptic... sounds like you need a hobby because nothing is going to make you happy. All i know is that since McBride, Franchville, Youssef and Foreman have gotten in, a lot of changes have come... Good Changes!
Which good changes are you speaking about? The closure of a fire station? The reduction of city staff and services? Reducing the number of cops on the street? Or were you referring to the City's desire to increase the amount of low income housing in the City?
What specific good changes are you referring to????? |
I is amazing to me how loud people speak when they hide behind fake names. Eric McBride is a stand up guy and is not under the control of anyone. The east end fire station was a waste of money to start with and never should have been built to start with. Multiple reports and assesssments from both City and Count/State fire depts back that up. As for low income housing, the City is obligated to provide a certain percentage of the housing to low income. This is a state and federal mandate. Before you critizize things you know little about anf hide behind fake names, educate yourself on the facts.

I do agree that Petty's house on accacia is an eye sore and the City should force him to do something about it much like the City of San Jacinto forced the owners of the Vosburg to do something. It may still be under construction but it looks a lot better now.

Grant, since when is the safety and security of the citizens a waste of money? You claim that quotes by the City and County/State back that assessment. You are WRONG! The only thing the assessment said was that Station 5 ran an average of one call per day. The City decided that it was not cost efficient to run the station!
Why should the citizens in East Hemet have to shoulder the burden of public safety without benefitting from the same services that other citizens are receiving? Maybe you should read up on American Heart Association recommendations stating that emergency care should be provided within five minutes of cardiac arrest!! The average response time to Lake Street and Florida Avenue is 14 minutes. I guess those tax payers are just out of luck if they suffer a heart attack or stop breathing!!!....Lets' just hope the children at Bautista Creek don't have any serious medical emergencies!!! Its your type of rhetoric and idiocy that prevails today that puzzles me. It seems that you are not able to objectively reason because you are under the same spell of these "Magical Politicians" who claimed to have fixed the City's problems. Your alternate claim that Mr. McBride is a stand-up guy fails to convince me due to the fact that he (and Len Wood)defended and supported Robin Lowe even after the Grand Jury determined that Prime of Life was a conflict of interest. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it McBride that commented in the papers that the City disagreed with the Grand Jury findings? How freaking convenient! Also, the council members will be attending a ceremony in Sacramento celebrating Lowe's appointment as Chair of The League of California Cities...You seemed to conveniently forget that too!! Finally, you might want to check McBride's campaign contribution forms before you start running your mouth! You might be surprised! Oh yeah, Mr. Petty's dimantled building has been in disrepair for 14 years without any appreciable improvements or attention from the Council (including Mr. McBride). This is unacceptable! |

Skeptic,
I noticed you did not address the issue of being too weak to identify yourself. I was addressing issues that I know. I did not insult or attack you or anyone else. the fact is that the City has been mismanaged for many years. You can not only blame the elected officials, you must also blame the people who vote them into office and keep them there. I would suggest that instead of attacking in calling me names like some kind of child, you stand up for what you feel. Not by hiding behind some name like "Skeptic" but by putting yourself out there and running for the City Council. Instead I am sure you will just be an angry child and incapable of civil communication. It is people like you who make others turn away from issues instead of learning about them and making educated decisions. I for one will waste no additional time on the forum thanks to you. Stop whining about the problems and do something to fix them. |
"Grant from Yucaipa" how about you identify yourself?
I understand Skeptic's frustration. The people in this valley are apathetic about politics and money behind the scenes gets things done. As far as our city council goes, things are better than they were? Ok whatever, but I'm more worried about the priorities and where we are headed in the future. And even if they are better, is that good enough? Do they have the vision and tools to take us into a safe and productive future? Or will they push forward their pet projects and forget about the future and betterment of the city? Time will tell, but I think you know the answer. |

Judged:
1 You shy away from the issues when confronted with the stark reality that I'm right and you are wrong. You're too worried about my identity to address the real issues at hand. The City of Hemet has to get it's collective head out of its ass and move forward to make this a better place. So far, what we have is a place that attracts LA gangs and prostitutes. We have to stop providing more than our fair share of affordable housing and start attracting a more upscale demographic. Otherwise, all is lost and Hemet will just go down in history with Compton, South Central LA and the like. Can your feelings handle that? |
I do not hide behind any thing you coward! Nor do I shy away from issues or cowards like yourself. I agree that the City has been mismanaged. I agree that things need to change. I believe that passionate people like yourself would help address the issues if you could do it like an adult. I would love to hear what some of your solutions are instead of hear you complain about everything. So Mr. Super Skeptic, grow up and do something besides complain. At least I used my first name fro the start, and now you have my last. And before you make an ass of yourself, I am not the gardner that was spoken about. I do not hide from issues and would never hide from a coward like you.
I would love to hear what some of you think are solutions to the current problems. I am open minded and do not claim to have the answers. I just do believe that sitting around complaining helps anything. Lets throw out some ideas that can move our city foward.
Grant...I'm sure that anyone who has followed this post this far is also interested in hearing the "solutions" to Hemet's problems. So here you go:
1) People who still care about HEMET need to get off their asses and get involved in government. Regardless of how Franchville and Youseff got elected, you have to give them credit for getting involved. 2) If you don't want to run for office, attend council and commission meetings. You have to get agendas ahead of time and demand a "full council packet" from the city clerk before the meeting. 3) Speak out against stupidity. When you read or hear something stupid, speak out at the meetings, write letters, call the council member and mayor. 4) No matter how you see it, everyone needs to admit that a strong police force is key to getting our city back. Does anyone know that the current city council CUT THE SWORN POLICE FORCE BY 25%?!?! It's true and the previous city manager strong-armed the employees into being hush-hush about it. That is ridiculous! 5) Demand that the city quit wasting money on stupid stuff and make police a priority again. I know of at least one council member who promised to "close the library before cutting cops"...well I'm not calling him a liar but the library is still open and 22 cops have been cut...liar. |
Now that is the kind of conversation we need to save our City. I agree that police should be our top prioty. I know it is not a popular option, but I would like to see a true cost comparison and effective ness of contracting with the Sherif's Dept. It works for Temecula, San Jacinto and many other Cities. As I have argued before, just the legal shield contracting gives to the City seems to make sense. I guess I will have to do my homework and let you know
