LINK, you got it, good to see more catching on and avoiding state alltogether. Montana is home to a mine once operated by W.R. Grace & Co., one of the most influential corporations in introducing asbestos into the homes and lives of millions of Americans. Products with asbestos that originated from Montana's mine in Libby have affected countless lives, whether it was contained in insulation materials, consumer products, construction items or industrial equipment. Exposure to what has been dubbed "Libby amphibole asbestos" has led to financial hardships, health issues and innumerable deaths. With slightly less than 1 million residents, Montana is plagued by a problem that stems from years of corporate and government inaction and the public's lack of information.

For decades, mining and exporting millions of tons of asbestos was standard practice for multiple companies in Montana. Residents are permanently affected by the environmental and occupational risks associated with asbestos because of the state's mining industry. Despite the location, occupation or lifestyle of any given resident of the state, it is likely that residents were impacted negatively by asbestos. Governmental and non-profit environmental groups have clearly identified the dangers that exist within Montana from decades of mining and distributing asbestos.

Many of the companies responsible for mining and distributing this toxic substance have been publically exposed and held liable for their actions, yet so many Montana residents continue to be affected by asbestos. Because of the latency period associated with asbestos-related diseases like mesothelioma, patients may not become aware of their cancer until decades after exposure. Treatment options may be limited depending on the cancer's stage at time of diagnosis.

A 2011 report by the Associated Press determined that asbestos-contaminated wood chips and tree bark were distributed across the state and used in public parks, yards and outside schools, potentially harming countless residents and workers. This occurred three years after the EPA knew that the wood chips and park was contaminated.

Some estimates state that more than 15,000 tons were sold and distributed outside of Libby, over the past 10 years. The precise locations of these shipments cannot accurately be determined yet. Any public area with landscaping, within any given city in the state may contain this tainted asbestos. This situation creates an additional burden of widespread asbestos cleanup that will be required, adding to the current cleanup effort that is still being conducted. Local reports show that city officials and residents are demonstrating a lack of confidence in the EPA's ability to clean up the wood chips and tree bark.

I can and do blame most of this known deadly Holocaust that was done to us on the EPA because EPA and OSHA knew that Libby Tremolite IS the cause of Mesothelioma in the early 70s when they tested this deadly fiber on rats and they died. Then they come to Libby in 99 and tell all of us why we are sick and dying and then in 2000, these bastards began selling Libby as safe...knowingly poisoning/killing ALL they sell Libby to.Course, one needs to understand WHO EPA and OSHA/DEQ/etc etc are...WR Grace created these Govt agencies when Reagan created the Grace Commission in the 60s.The tree bark issue began many years with me requesting tests be done on trees at the schools with a pre school being my main concern and yes, those results for this pre school were/are falsified and never made public. You think I could find ANYONE with the same concern for those children??? NO. They are still their. No one seems to care about those being exposed let alone ALL the children and grand children who too are walking dead and await diagnoses. This will never end as long as these lies continue and these murderers keep getting away with murder.Thank you for helping me to educate We tthe People about this town left to die from the air that kills.I been telling the World since 2000....till I die.God Bless.

oh ya...and over 4000 people are being treated from Libby today and again, this does not count ALL the children and grand children already sentenced to death.EVERYONE from Libby WILL DIE from asbestos...IF, they live long enough and do not die from something else first. And of course, everyone who dies in Libby die of "natural causes"....really.

Yes Ive heard and heard about Libby, so we wont go there.
Thought about around Yellowstone until I watched episode on Hist. channel about its inevitable that the volcanoe will have super eruption in the near future..
thought about billings b/c of size.
I wanna go somewhere that is really scenic and gorgeous with wildlife and streams and things like that.. Mountain view... aww so gorgeous.
what about school systems there?
Bozeman has a great school system, and billings is nice as well. As far as scenic, I would reccomend the western side of the state - the rockies are georgeous. Lewistown and Helena are both great, in my opinion. I would recommend Lewistown, Butte, Bozeman, Helena or Billings.

SO, If you are concerned about where and what you are moving into...educate yourselves TO THE TRUTH for the TRUTH will save you and your children. PLEASE,stay away from Libby Mt specially if you have children. Not a safe place to anything that breaths.I hope I have saved your life and your childrens by telling you this.Noo one told three generations of my family that they will all die from the town left to die from the air that kills. I live in Lambert Mt and i love it. Most people don't even know where it is. You do have to be tough to live here. We have to go to Sidney to gay our groceries and stalk up for 2 or 3 weeks. If the roads are bad you want to make sure you have groceries to last a little while. You have to know how to handle the cold. And the poeple are very nice and welcoming. Yes born and raised proud montanan is what i am!

My apologies to those who have had negative experiences in MT. I have lived all over the country but most of my life in this beautiful state. If you're used to the big city where there is always some crazy entertainment at your fingertips and outdoor activities aren't your thing don't move here. The western side of the state workIng eastward: Missoula is a little more of a hippie town, gorgeous scenery though. Kalispell is not as modern but is bordered by Glacier Lark and the spectacular Flathead lake. Butte, don't bother. Bozeman is an all around great town. Billings is more industrial and not very scenic. Rather flat but it has milder winters.

For those complaining we drive too fast... we haven't always had a speed limit. If you don't like it, don't cruise in our passing lanes.

Overall, I love this state. The people are generally friendly and the scenery is to die for. I'd rather work a bit harder to live here than settle for a mediocre quality of life.

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Gemini

Do a little lateral thinking today and it will work wonders. Don't feel hidebound because you're supposed to do things in a certain way, because this is a great opportunity to try a different approach for a change. Even so, you may have to play down your unorthodox technique when talking to anyone who sticks rigidly to convention.
