My family is from Northern AZ(White Mountains), a town not to far from Showlow Pines. I might not be able to answer all your questions, but a few I can. It is a beautiful place. Seasonal (winters can be cold) and there is a lot to do for young and older! Has a small town feel, but also has enough around to shop for any needs you may want. I'm not sure what you are wanting to know, since your question was a bit general. I am not sure about the politics, but here is a link (http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm... )to the local online news for the White Mountain areas. It truly is a wonderful and beautiful area. Good Luck!

Zonie,

Thank you. I have been to that link and it is a great one, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Husband and I were considering on purchasing a lot in Show Low Pines but we didn't know if the wells had to be really deep or if the water was good - those kind of questions. We will be purchasing a mobile/mfg home later on. I guess a septic system costs about $15,000 (yikes!).

Again thanks.

My folks bought in Show Low Pines I in 1962 for about $800 for a lot. The area sucks!! It is one big lava field, virtually no vegetation. It is as close to a scam as I can describe. The sign to show low pines (10miles east of town) is a pitiful hand painted mess. Save your money or buy my lot cheap!!

It's one of the most beautiful parts of Arizona! I'm originally from Winslow and spent time with relatives in the area. It's absolutely wonderous. From the weather, to the wild life, to the people, it's wonderful!

Show low pines is about 15 min. east of Show low towards Concho. the terrain is mostly hills covered with junipers and a few scattered pines. Well depths average from 300 to 700+ feet. 15k for a standard septic is a little high most are done for about half that. alternatives systems are a few thou. more if you encounter a lot of rock. before purchasing property anywhere in the white mountains, I recommend a perc test be done as a contingency to the sale to determine what system you can go with. Make sure access to you property is good, when the clay and mud in these mountains gets wet, things can get real nasty. cinders work well on driveways and roads. my opinion is that the area is a nice place to live. the cost of land is fair and close to all recreation activities in the White mountains

Show Low Pines is minutes from Show Low. I have electric within 100 feet of my lot. I bought in about two years ago and am glad that I did. Some of the trees are thirty feet tall. Some of the ground is sandy, rocky, and grass. You can see a little pond nearby. There is a quaint homestyle mini-mart out of a converted house. It is clean and cute. The air is pure and the people are pleasant. No one had a sign with a lot for sale last time I was up. Some new cabins were going up.

My dad's wife (he passed recently) has an acre with a manufactured house on it with a well, septic, and propane gas. She may be wanting to sell in the near future. They will probably be asking around $70,000.
