Do you think Talihina would benefit from having a scatepark for kids to go to?

I don't know about a skate park since the majority of kids here probably don't use a skate board, but something needs to be available for the kids and teens. If there was enough interest and a source of funds for putting one in, including consideration for liability issues, upkeep and maintenance, I'd say go for it.

Just what is available for kids and teens to do or go to around here when summer is over and the pool closes?

I wouldn't say nothing, there are drugs and sex, that's what most of them do on the weekends anyway. Even your perfect little angels.

they've already tried this once, and either there was no support for it, or interest was lost. I think there may be a discussion about it on this forum somewhere.

How about explaining why you are against it instead of posting a crap comment like that. Or are you just trying to be cute but failing miserably?

Well, why build it when it will probably get used as much as the tennis courts and walking path, which hardly get used at all. They'll probably still be driving around town and hanging out at the ez mart parking lot like they have done forever. I have had a lot of near-misses on the road in front of the ez-mart, I don't know why they are allowed to gather there like that.

Well thats the spirit!! And the walking path gets used alot, by the school and other people. Instead of bitchin about your near misses do something to help i notices all most of you do on here is bitch and do nothing to help maybe thats why there is so much fighting with the kids at the high school it seems like no one cares about the youth around here, they gather like that becouse there is nothing for them to do! Dont you remember hanging out with your friends walkin round town? No prolly not or you wouldnt be bitchin about it. Kids need things to do or they do stupid things like get in trouble i think a scate park would be good and the kids would use it what are they suposed to do go walk the walking path? come on!!

I have a plan for a skate park in my office and there is around $700 raised as start up money. The park estimate was for around $ 70-80,000. There is also a land aquistition grant that comes open in the spring, which would pay for 1/2. The Tony Hawkins grant will pay up to $25,000, but is based on the amount the kids have raised at the time of the application. This is when I lost the interest of the kids last year. They stopped coming to the meetings and didn't do the last 2 fundraisers planned. Good luck. I would be happy to share my information with you. I think there is a need for this, but I was only interested in working on it, if the kids helped. If you build it for them, with out their help they will not value the park and vandalizam will be likely.

you people need to have a all parents meeing at the school to see what can be done to help your little town out and a skate park is not the answer cause if they buy drugs at the e=z mart then they would have better accuess at the park. a well skating rink would benefit the town and the kids at least they would be inside and not outside. and well champroned too.wake up parents help out with your kids you don't have to charge to much and the ones that cannot pay bring a can good to help the homeless people out.

I think the skate park is an okay idea but come winter time, I don't think it would be used much. I would prefer to see a movie theater here in town again. That would give everybody in the community something to do. They could show new movies at night and do a cheap matinee on Saturdays and Sundays. Tulsa has a $1.00 move theater that shows older releases at it. They could do something like that for the matinees.

We would need to find an invester with a couple hundred thousands willing to not make a profit. The cost is too high for the population, especially if they are doing $ 1 night. Skating Rinks are also a lossing prospect.

I think you would be surprized that the skate park would get used in the winter, unless it is covered with snow.

A paint ball field is the least expensive entertainment business to put in. Would anyone be interested in opening one in town??
