You can help us pick out the movies you would like to see. A group of community individuals will get together, Tuesday, August 18th, 6:30 at Treats and Treasures. We would love to have you. You can also add suggestions for movies on to this post. |

Rhonda,
I understand why there are no shows on Oct. 31st but why not on Oct. 3rd? Just curious. And thank you for doing this again. |
||||
Great line-up. Marley & Me was a big hit also! |

It is free. It is set up on Subway's outside wall. You bring blankets or chairs to sit on and enjoy the free show. There is a concession stand and they charge for the items being sold there. I am not sure who provides the items for sale or where the money goes for that though.

October 3rd is the Lion's Club carnival, and we don't book on another Non-profits event.
ummm- we rent the movies from Swank Motion Pictures, so we are meeting all licensing rules and regulations. You are right, that you can not rent a movie from the rental place or show a personal copy to a group. We also can not charge an admission charge but we are allowed to accept donations. The concession stand profits goes to pay for the movies. In the past 2 years we have not made a penny on the movies but have come close to breaking even. The businesses and Talihina Main Street provide this as a free fun night for family entertainment. Our only goal is to get people to come downtown and hopefully shop in the stores. The movies will be moved to the downtown park this year. The concern was for the audience sitting in the street if there was an automobile accident. The park should also be darker. Now the concern is about kids crossing the street to go to the bathroom. Unfortunately, I should have waited to post the line-up, because some of the movies rental fee is a little too high. We try to hold the cost to under $300, but High School Musical III is $ 340 and Tale of Despereaux is $325. We will probably be subsituting Flush Away or Enchanted or Hair Spray. What is your pick? We do accept donations from businesses and individuals to pay for the movies. Would you like to make a donation? |

Of the three you listed Rhonda, I would prefer "Flushed Away".

Our businesses have been very supportive of the movies. Thank you to: Talihina Branch Spiro State Bank, Cranford's Boots, Mansour's Furniture, Pam's Diner, Treats and Treasures, Subway, City Hardware, B and R Greenhouse,Community State Bank, Gina Gregson, Jackie England, Mary Ann Coleman, Tracy Lacie for their sponsorship.
Pack up the kids, bring your lawnchairs and blankets and come downtown, September 12th for the first movie of the season. Why not stop at one of our downtown restaurants and make it a Dinner and a Movie?!?! |

Good grief... What is wromg with you???? |
||||
LOL Come on Bobcat lady are you joking? 90% of the audience is children. Do you really think they would want to see "drama"? They see that at home all the time. |

Children movies have the best attendance.
We picked all PG rated movies, except for one on October 24th that is PG13. The older movies are not well attended and cost more. |

Informing the public about a free movie for a non-profit organization, is not advertising for a business. Advertising a business is prohibited from Topix. Hopefully there will be a small profit for TMS, but in the past 2 years, it hasn't.
This is a better use of this forum than the scandels and gossip. |

I think the movies downtown is a wonderful thing. It brings people out, and gets the community together. Because it is public I understand the need for PG ratings, but would love to see some old black and whites for us old-out-of-the-groove people.

I don't see where you're making any money off this forum. But if you are, who cares? Go for it. I've seen people advertise things for sale on here. That's no different. Besides, I've seen this forum be used for much worse...bitching, griping, harrassment, threats, and false accusations that could really hurt someone's reputation. |

The movie for this evening has been canceled due to the 80% chance of rain tonight.
We will reschedule Beverly Hill Chihuahua's for next Saturday, Sept. 19th. If you have a movie schedule, we will be pushing all the movies back one week. Sorry for the inconvience. |

Oh, okay. We had planned on coming to it. I'll just rearrange my calender. Thank you for letting us know.
