Has anyone heard when the new bakery is going to open? I remember seeing something in the paper about it and went by there today to check it out but there is a sign on the door saying "Coming Soon". Also, do you think it will impact Donut Depot much?

Wednesday, they told me they would be open next week. I think they are planning on selling a different line than Donut Depot. I think there is room for both businesses.

In the strip across from Lawson Pharmacy. I believe it is right next door to the new carpet store. If I understand correctly, the people who own the new bakery are related to the owners of the carpet store. Whether they sell a different line than Donut Depot or not, competition is always a good thing.

It is true that competition is good but you must first consider what type of business it is and the population of the city. Talihina is not large enough to support two types of bakeries. It will only put a hardship on one business that I'm sure is just trying to survive. Therefore the end result will be that someone will be forced to close their door if not both.

What's the old saying ... "Vote with your dollars" couldn't be more appropriate here. In a free market system with a tight/small market, someone is going to win and someone is going to loose. The only way to ensure your favorite comes out on top is to vote with your dollars, otherwise we may loose both... eh? |

I really like the new bakery. Their cookies are delicious and so is their breads. I haven't tried their lunches yet but I hope to do it soon. The inside of the bakery is really cute too.

I love being able to buy fresh bread in town, I hope the bakery expands their types of fresh breads! The brownies are fantastic. The donut depot lost my business due to the irregular hours of operation, I haven't been in their in a while.

I think the quality of Donut Depot went down after he died and his son took over. I hope they survive but I am so thankful for the bakery now.

Donut Depot is still my home town favorite! I've tried the new bakery and agreed they have wonderful goodies. But long live Donut Depot I've got to have my hot dogs at least three times a week and my daughter loves the donut holes. I hope they both do well I spend money at both.

The bakery has DELICIOUS cookies. I have to go in there at least a few times a week and get some of them. Yum!

I believe there is room for both businesses. They have a unique line for both establishments and both have good products. Sometimes you feel like a doughnut and sometimes a muffin. Good luck to both.
