Hi! I am a Florida Air National Guardsman, and I am looking into applying for one of the Full-Time Guard Positions at Clear AFS, but I've been having trouble finding out much solid information about the area. All I've been able to find has been from the Clear AFS web site and the Anderson City Web Site.
The sort of thing I'm looking for is, how large (or small) is the town of Anderson? I don't mean numbers of people, I mean, does it have a "downtown" with a general-store type place? Resteraunt(s)? Also, and a bit more generally, How expensive is it to build there? I realize that it is more expensive to build in Alaska than in most of the lower 48, and guess it would be more expensive in a small town like Anderson than in a large one like Fairbanks or Anchorage, but the question is, How much more expensive? The scale I'm looking at puts the midwest as the baseline, with California and New England at 1.15 and The Southeast .95 . How expensive would Alaska be? 1.25? 1.5? I know there are special considerations due to permafrost, but haven't been able to find out much about construction in Alaska either. Thanks for any help. |
