An old businessmen's maneuver is to call there bluff by getting them in on a business deal or real estate deal. They have their money tied up in certified deposits, undeveloped real estate and other things, so they can't get money without incurring a loss. A bank loan over $500k isn't coming their way, so they have to pull out by saying they aren't interested.
