Please e-mail me info on the land deal in your town of Hazelton, ND. I live in Las Vegas and am tired of the over crowding and the crime. I've always wanted to be able to grow a garden, the only thing that grows here are palm trees.
Thanks M. Spargur |

We watched this story last night on the news. I grew-up near Charlotte, NC and we moved to the middle-of-nowhere in Nebraska, homesteading. We would jump at the chance again because we moved back to NC to take care of elderly parents.
Many do not realize - If you do not mind 'running down to Wal-Mart' once a month, weather permitting, not living near movie theaters, stores, large grocery chains, sometimes doctors then you might survive homesteading, however, there is more to consider. Be able to walk into a cafe where people have personalized coffee mugs, know what it feels like to have your nose hairs freeze when the actual temp. is -20 and the wind chill factor is -50, snow means nothing - no snow days because the ground will be more white than green, if you have SAD, do not move to a place that is primarily winter and not warm, also the air is dry so if you get chapped skin you will need a lot of moisterizer, be prepared to not run out to eat at McDonalds, be prepared to be in your own town without commuting in the event of a blizzard, know that Cardinal directions are used there - not around the corner on the left - they use North, South, East, and West even referring to sides of a building, buy a breadmaker, be prepared to be around the nicest people in the world who will follow you throughout a hardware store to help you, and if you've never visited for an extended time a place like that, do so before thinking you are getting a free house in a place you will not be able to live because some of the creature comforts you presently have will be absent. Would we do it? You betcha, in a minute. Email eustiscollins@yahoo.com We have goats, teach, are computer techs and can be self sufficient and if you cannot be, think about what you can do to add to the community - not what you can get for a free handout. |

In regards to "The Warners" comment, I say "AMEN". I think your depiction of the life is perfect. Sounds painful sometimes, but it has many rewards...however, like your comment points out, if you've always been used to the creature comforts, it will be a totally different life style. I grew up in ND and now live in GA. Now that my husband and I have a baby boy, I realize what a great place ND was to grow up. It's a great place for families. One thing that wasn't mentioned are the beautiful summers! You won't feel drenched when you've just walked outside on a summer morning! Relaxing under a tree is much more enjoyable and you won't see 2" cockroaches!!

I am not sure why our address is showing as Kansas under our name; however, we are in North Carolina with the humidity..........insects..... .. etc. Many people do not realize nothing is FREE. Initially, homesteaders settling in the midsection of the U.S. were given incentives IF they could live and making a living on the land. As stated in my initial post, if a person/s cannot contribute to Hazelton, they are best off where they are currently residing. There is more to building a community than holding one's hand out. Also, if someone suffers from SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder - then white landscapes and snow-covered grass for months upon end will not be in your best interest. Personally, I am looking for my snow shovel in the storage building and taking a look into this opportunity. I firmly believe Hazelton wishes to build with honest and hard working individuals. It would be wonderful to be a part of this community. |

Please email info@livehazelton.com with your phone number and I will give you a call regarding the process. Thanks |

This story is about my uncle and aunt that I wouldn't even consider an aunt or an uncle for what they did to our family. They cheat and steal their way into peoples lives. They stole all our family money and killed my aunt who was loved very much. Since Michael Tristani was so selfish he has to have it all.
